Paddle Shifter Replacement

Has anyone ever replaced a paddle shifter, and is there a DIY for this?
I made the mistake of ordering the paddle shifter extenders which look nice until your leg hits one getting in the car and breaks the original paddle shifter from the steering column. It's still attached but loose. Going to be my Winter storage project... if it's a project. Thanks.

There isn’t much around for us 5th gens anymore unfortunately hurst and other companies stopped making them. I only know of 2 still sold, Vitesse and S2TPP. I’m a 2010 and have ones from S2TPP.. pretty quick straight forward install and they even provide instructions. One of my hubs broke off and they repaired it for me, awesome customer service.

Looks like I will do this over the Winter. Disconnect battery and steering wheel airbag but need to find OEM shifters.

Like I said, those two companies I mentioned sell extended paddle shifters that directly replace OEM fittings. They aren’t just a glued piece to the existing paddles. No need to disconnect battery or airbag for the swap, but I guess no harm to be safe. You can swap them with the wheel still attached, literally takes 15-30 mins for total install.

I notice your garage says you have a 2012 RS V6 LFX so if that’s still accurate it appears S2TPP doesn’t make it for 12-15 years but Vitesse does and here’s direct links to the product page and installation instructions for them:

I've had my Vitesse paddle shifters on 9 years and never had a problem. I run in sport mode and only use the paddle shifters all day. I don't if they are still numbering them. I have the number 49 on mine.

Hey this is real helpfull. I will have to see if I can remove the plastic OEM shifters, then I'll order the Vitesse. Do they come in Black Alumium?

Very cool BatmaroBeauty, thanks for being so informative on a lot of things going on in the forum!! It's folks like you that make life easier for people who don't know how to or what to do for some mods, and info like this really helps. I also was thinking of ordering these from Vitesse for mine, they are the only thing I have left to mod in my interior, and I use the tapshift all the time and think they would look great.

No problem 1JEWLDSSRS that’s what this community is for! Vitesse also offers the paddles for the 2010-11 which look slightly different than the 12-15 and can be found here… (the how to install instructions are also a little different too)

For these 10-11 paddles, the other company S2TPP (Street 2 Track Performance Products) I mentioned in my first response also makes three different style paddles in anodized or polished finished for silver or black color options. They are a great customer service and have helped repair the damaged hubs on mine after they got worn from removing and reinstalling several times when I sent them to be customized. Details about those can be found here (and a step by step picture install guide here)
They are a little more money than the Vitesse paddles, but I like the ability to pick which style I felt best suited my interior appearance. S2TPP Order Page: https://www.s2tpp.com/CHEVROLET.html

I got my paddles hydrodipped forged CF inlay and hand painted blue edging to match my new custom flat top and bottom forged CF steering wheel thats been eagerly waiting for my car to get back from the shop so I can install
…sometimes I hold the wheel while sitting by the window and imagine what it’ll actually be like once I FINALLY get to put it in and drive!

Fixed in 20 min. Replaced with new OEM shifter.
Can't use extended shifters, I hit em with my knees when I climb in.
