Lifters - Tie Bar vs Trays - Short Travel vs Slow Leakdown vs Solid
I'm about to pull the trigger on a GPI SS1 VVT cam and want some bullet proof lifters to go with it. In the future I intend to install a Procharger, but not yet. I am considering the lifters listed below. I know they are all good, but to be honest, I could use some education. Which would you choose and why?
a) Johnson slow leakdown 2110R drop in with trays b) Johnson short travel ST2116LSR with tie bars c) Cam Motion – LS Premium Racing Solid Roller Lifters (Tie Bar Style with Axle Oiling) Thanks for the help. |

Most of that I'm gonna guess is to what RPM's are you going to want to push. If I was to choose a set, it would be the Johnson slow leakdown 2110R drop in with trays. That's all you really need unless you are going all out with a monster build. Heck even the "caddy lifters" will work up to 8k RPM's.. Just my thoughts.

I would only run solid if you are going for an all out race motor. They require a good bit more maintenance,(valve lash adjustments as the valve seats and cam lobes wear) Typically you really only need them on the highest of rpm builds in my opinion.
