Super Charger for the Z's
I am thinking about putting a super charger on my Z. I read through some of the post here, but not a whole lot that I have seen.
Curious as to which ones people used and did they have good or bad experiences with them. What all did they have to do to the engine to get them ready for which ever one they chose. Thanks |

With 11.00:1 compression if you want to run any kind of boost I would absolutely recommend a forged bottom end. My understanding is the pistons are the weak link. I would do some hardcore research before just bolting a blower on.

My opinion for the money of a good supercharger set up you can do heads, cam, headers, injectors and get similar "safe" power. Plus with heads this eliminates any possibilities of the (controversial) rumored valve guide failure

Well whatever SC you decide, if you keep it 11:1 ratio, the tuning window will be less forgiving.

I would expand a bit to find the best solution. If you have access to E85 that gets around many of the obsticles above and really opens up possibilities.

i don’t understand why supercharging a car that has an excellent balance as naturally aspirated. it’s a track focused car and any kind of forced induction will only make it worse for track usage and will also lower the value of the car. it’s yours so you can do whatever you want but i think tuning is more apt for non limited production run (and non extreme) models. you have high risk of just ruining the z.

IMO that's literally one of the worst things you can do to a Z/28. Push the Z to its limits at a track and you'll find out how fantastically balanced the car is, right near its limit. Watch the videos with Randy Pobst, and Chris Harris. The car is a beast, and you want to slap an extra 90-100lbs on the nose and throw that balance all out of whack. Not to mention there are tons of recipes out there to get 600+ wheel HP out of them N/A.

Most of the guys around here just did heads and a cam with LT's and a tune and called it a day.
