Help with replacing body panels & questions regarding paint matching

Hello all,


I recently got into an accident and i need to replace my front bumper and passenger side fender.

I have a 2010 SS and it’s Black.

Partify offers pre painted panels, what i’m worried about is if it’ll look horrible or not. After reading a bit on reddit it seems like black is probably one of the best colours to buy pre painted panels for. My paint is in a bit of rough shape but i have had plans to do a full paint correction. I would much rather replace the bumper & panel myself than have a shop respray and “blend” my paint.

My hope is with a paint correction it’ll look good.

I guess there’s always a silver lining because now i won’t have any rock chips on my freshly painted bumper lol + i have an excuse to install my zl1 front grill ahaha

I do not have any experience with purchasing pre-painted fenders or such. I'm sorry to hear about your accident and hope that you can get your car back in proper condition again. I have a friend who lives in Toronto... or to be more exact... Mississauga, Ont and he and I always go at it with each other when it comes to American Muscle and the ricer cars of Toronto etc.. All in all its just good fun between us. Glad to see a member on the forum from the Toronto area that appreciates good old American Muscle!

The biggest drawback to buying pre painted parts is they are almost always aftermarket and fit can be hit or miss-mostly miss. I myself would OEM new or used hand have someone paint to match.

I got a paint matched rear bumper and left side fender from paintapart.com. Paint matched really well, they got shipped quickly, perfect fitment, and I saved a lot of cash doing it myself. It's fairly easy to do.

i see your car is also black? hard to see from the small picture in your profile.

I think with a proper paint correction it’ll help a ton. But black doesn’t really have any “shades” and it doesn’t really fade comparatively to other colours like red or yellow as much.

The bumper and fender are coming in this week. hoping everything goes as planned.

There are many variables and to ordr parts pretty painted is a gamble, My sons Ram Laramie Diesel had over 12 Variants on the silver and I believe like 6 on the Black, pick the wrong one and you will notice, I believe there are 3 or 4 for my Ashen Grey SS and when I was trying to match the new ground effects I took the spray out and the chips outside in the sun and under lights to pick.

It's blue ray metallic. Hard to see in that photo.
