Looking for Intake Recommendations

Well... my stock intake is toast and needs to be replaced. Any recommendations?

I have a Texas Speed cam with the following specs:

Duration 0.50 223 233
Lobe Lift .370 .370
Valve Lift @ 1.7 .629 .629
Lobe Separation 114
Intake Center Line 107

stock LS3 intake is actually pretty good. Most of the sheet metal style intakes, particularly short runner, will have less power below 4500 rpm. GPI and Richard Holdner have done a good bit of testing. You should check their videos out.

As in the air intake, or the intake manifold? If it’s the intake manifold, then yes, like others have mentioned; the stock LS3 intake mani with “rod mod”, is probably the best performing intake manifold/mod for the cost.

As for the air intake itself, depends on whether or not you wanna go with a 102mm throttle body or a ported stock one. The factory TB is 90mm, and porting it is great, but I’d rather just go with a 102mm TB if possible. You’d probably be best off with a 4” custom intake at that point.

If you decide to just go with another stock airbox, that can’t go wrong either. Just get a modular intake tube, so that you don’t have to run the stock air intake hose, which has a bunch of resonance chambers that might kill some of the air flow. Hell, you can probably just run a regular paper filter, although there are some really good dry “high flow” reusable air filters out there. Oiled ones like the good ole’ K&N are fine, I guess, as long as you don’t over-oil the filter if you clean and service the filter.

The OEM LS3 Intake works just fine and doesn't really need to be replaced or touched. Save your money.

How do intakes even become toast? Presuming they weren't made of bread in the first place.
