Will this AC compressor fit our Z/28's?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/19664307453...Bk9SR9rlxanFZA
My car is at the dealer (Abel Chevrolet) and they say GM discontinued AC compressors and are no longer available. Dealer says compressor in ad won't fit due to differing part numbers per GM catalog 23374618.

At the bottom of the page it says it interchanges with #23374618, if you google #22785352 it comes up with fitting ZL1 & Z28. I would do a little research but it's probably NOS of a superseded number.

That number in the eBay title doesn’t show up as a GM number anywhere else. But the number pictured on the end of the case is the same as what shows on pictures on GM part sites. But the ZL1 has a different part number than z28. So probably not exactly the same as your original but can probably be made to work but might require something like a pulley swap. But I’m just speculating.

Thanks for the help. Took a chance and bought that one after an order with a Kansas dealer was cancelled. Dealer reason: Discontinued. Like when ordering oem wheels. Amazed GM discontinued parts on a car that's 10 years old.
Anyone know how to prevent failed ac comp bearings?

I assume that since this is a z, its relatively low miles? And you have a bearing failure and not a seal failure. Compressors that sit a lot can have damage to the seals due to flat spots on the seals from setting in the same spot without rotation. But I don't know about bearings.
There are still companies around that will rebuild compressors. At least I think there are. |

Yes 2015 Z/28, 28k miles. Dealer diagnosed as a failed bearing. Screeching on cold start ups and when ac is on. I live in a cool area of the Bay but I did run it regularly. Thinking of taking the old compressor and looking into a rebuild just to have a spare. I also saw there may be aftermarket brackets to use comp. from other GM cars. But had no time to look into this. My car has been at the dealer sitting.

I had this issue with a 2013 ZL1 in April 2025. ZL1 compressor discontinued and no one makes an aftermarket alternative. I found a workaround. ICT Billet (ictbillet.com) makes an AC bracket (part #197-LSA01) for the LSA engine that allows you to use an SS ac compressor (part #23374617). After installing the bracket and compressor, the shop I had do the work was able to slightly bend the AC lines to fit the SS compressor and it works fine. My understanding is that this will also work for the Z28 setup as it requires the same compressor. The ac belt remains OEM.
