Borla Touring with BBK Headers
2010 SS L99
Want to add Headers for the power, however I would like to keep the sound to a moderate level. I was thinking of doing the Borla Touring catback with BBK 1-7/8 Full-Length Headers W/ High Flow Cats (Polished Ceramic). Any thoughts or comments on this setup would be greatly appreciated. Or if there is another setup I should be looking at. |

Seems lik a good set up, Ceramic coated headers are the way to go in my book. I am not sure how the BBK headers fit on these cars but the make a quality product so I am sure they are fine.

I did a similar setup on my car, except the headers (LFX has them internally). I put in hi flow cats, parallel tubes without crossover, and the borla touring cat backs.
The borla touring are awesome. No drone, fairly quiet at idle, but a good growl at WOT. I think your contemplated setup will work great. If you still want it a little quieter after that, you can put some baffles in the pipes before the muffler. Sent from my SM-S926U using Tapatalk |

Plan on tuning ? Im sure you know when afm kicks in it wont sound good , easily fixed with a tune
Should be a good sounding setup , are you keeping the factory midpipes (expansion chamber to prevent drone? , i did headers hfc with factory exaust for a while and it's sounds great and was drone free, but for the life of me, I couldn't get rid of pesky exhaust leaks at the header collector(Kooks, who warned me of this) , finally after getting a full aftermarket, exhaust, there was enough adjustment to get all the angles right for a good seal , just something to think about Happy wrenching ETA after getting cammed, the middle of the road db exaust that was perfect loud wise (to me) became a tad loud (I went corsa sport ) ... all you guys cammed with borla atak or corsa extreme are glutton for punishment Last edited by Falfan; 06-17-2025 at 01:53 PM. Yes we are!! Kind of hard to drive the car aggressively when it is so freakin loud at WOT, gets a lot of attention.. Gotta be careful around the law guys... Thinking about toning mine down a tad.. I have the Corsa ZL1 Sport catback.. Same loudness as the extreme.

I have a Borla Touring catback, that's broken in. Pretty sure this thing came from like 2011 or somewhere around that time.
This is with 1-7/8" inch long tube headers, and off-road connection pipes (catless). https://youtu.be/XqwRJcbZOqI This is with factory exhaust manifolds/headers, and just a 2nd cat delete. https://youtu.be/iXNCaKGsuvM As you can see, it's fairly tame, as long as you have some form of cats. I ran some 400 cell ceramic core high flow cats on the long tubes, and they were MUCH quieter than 200 cell metallic core HFC's. You pretty much won't have to do anything, unless you end up going catless and not liking the rasp. Then, you can probably add a pair of resonators down the mid pipes. I actually enjoy the non-resonated mid pipes, which comes with an X-pipe. Borla sells this mid pipe kit and the axleback kits separately. If you end up thinking it's too quiet, simply trade someone for their S Type or Atak axleback; simple as that. I was debating adding another x-pipe down the mid pipe, to maybe "mellow" out the sound some more. Not sure it would exactly sound "exotic", but it would sound closer to what an LS3 sounds like in a C6 Corvette. |
