Ideal Temperatures
Greetings, camaro owners,
I have had my 2011 camaro for about 2 weeks now and changed all oils and consumables there is but I still feel like the old temperature is seemingly too high especially if I drive it spiritedly, noting that I use 5W30. It should be noted that the coolant temperature never went up though and the ambient temperature is usually 40C+. Should I up the oil viscosity to 5w40 or would that be suboptimal for the car? Thanks in advance for all the help. |

My apologies for the flipped images. Please keep in mind that the oil temperature hovers around the 3rd tick in the gauge. If I'm driving normally it'll be slightly less and if spiritedly it'll be as shown.

By my conversion calculations, you seem to be right in the general area for 104F ambient (Saudi) and "spirited" driving at about 243F. Here in CA, under normal (85 to 95°F) my oil temp is about 220-230F according to the gauge. When it's real hot, I'm sure mine hits 240°. Because it see it move just a little farther.
Use the best synthetic motor oil Saudi money will buy and DRIVE IT!
