Wheel spacers question

So I have a little issue with some new tires I got. I got some 285’s 45 20. And they are massive for the rears and are now rubbing pretty bad.

My question is, I have wheel spacers in the front and rears and was wondering if I take off the rears can I still keep on the fronts? I think taking off the rear spacers might help reduce the rubbing but would like to keep the fronts.

Shouldn't be a problem. I had 5mm spacers only on the front for clearance issues and none on the back. The only issue would be personal taste of they don't line up the same.

You didn't say what thickness your spacers were. You could try thinner spacers on the back. I don't use mine anymore i could send you for free. Send me a pm if interested.

So got the rears removed and no rubbing at all while alone in the car. The true test will be when I have my wife and we get groceries. Usually have cases of water and other heavy things. So hope it’s fine now.

It was rubbing on the edge of the fender, the bottom part of it. So now it’s tucked in and has more clearance.

Yea it looks weird now with tears tucked but I’d take that anyway over the nasty rubbing. I appreciate the offer of your spacers but I think I’m ok for now just gonna leave it as is and chill for now. Thank you though!

My spacers were 1inch.

How is the larger 45 size sidewall? Larger than a 275 width tire, I figured you could increase from the factory 40 sidewall, to a 45. It would fill in some tire gap and also give the appearance that you look "lower". Is the bigger sidewall going to give more tire "slop" at all, with hard cornering maybe..?

I wanted to go down to a size 35 sidewall, if going past a 305-315 wide tire. For 245 wide tires, I would stick with 45 or consider increasing to 50. For example, I might go with a square 275/45R20 setup all around, or 245/50R20 all around.

What I have found in my "tire research" when I was getting what I wanted to run. The 285/45 versus the 285/35, the difference would be in the overall tire diameter, as is would be for the 275/40 vs the 285/45.. The tire is taller. Sometimes when the guys want to run different size tires, they don't take into consideration the tires overall diameter. And that would be a big deal as to whether it will rub or not. Even at stock ride height. I've had all kinds of tire and wheel combos on mine in the last 14 years. Right now I run 285/35 on a 10.5 wide wheel on the front, +28 offset, no issues, on the rear I run 335/30 on an 11.5 wide wheel, +30, and am lowered 1.25.. No issues.
