Weird windshield wipers issue that I can't figure out??
My 2010 has developed a weird windshield wipers issue that I can't figure out. Frankly, I really don't know where to start looking??
When I first get in the car and turn the key to "run" ... the wipers will sweep once and stop. When I start the car and the engine starts ... the wipers will sweep once and stop. It first started doing this after using the wipers and would continue for about 4 or 5 start cycles then stop and act normal. Now it has progressed to doing it after every start cycle. Anyone ever encounter this weird wiper behavior?? Where should I start looking?? Relay?? Replace the control stalk?? Of course, any help is always appreciated!! |

Sounds like a control stalk issue and the different settings are off.

I replaced the control stalk ... and that didn't fix the problem. I'm puzzled ... but not mad. I was surprised that the new control stalk from GM was only like $28 ... I thought it would be a LOT more?? It was actually a lot easier to replace than I expected too. You just separate the upper and lower steering column halves, disconnect the electrical connector and release the two snap-tangs and it comes right out. Installation was the reverse of removal. Think I had it done in 20-25 minutes. Can't complain about the $$$, time and effort I put into trying to fix this issue ... only complaint is that it didn't solve the problem!!

Fairly common issue in Ram Trucks, The issue with them is in the Wiper motor, Not sure its the same here.

Replacing the wiper motor was going to be my next step. I even pulled it out to clean and lubricated the connector plug but that didn't help. Then I started thinking relay. In the under-hood fuse box there are two identical relays for the wipers: K69 Wiper Control and K619 Wiper Speed. I swapped them out to see what would happen. It fixed the problem, but made it so my wipers would only work on "high". Installed a new relay and now everything is working as it should be. Apparently one side of the K69 Wiper Control relay was not working and for some reason it caused my weird wiper problem?? Thanks for the help!!
