You may rise.

Whoso silenceth the rattle of the Camaro and glove box, is rightwise king born of all England.

Being away from Camaro ownership for a while I'd forgotten all the little ownership "perks".

The nasty glove compartment rattle was driving me bonkers on a '14 I just picked up so I spent a little time investigating this morning.

Long story short, it's the plastic stops on the sides of the glove compartment box. It's a really sketchy design where the pegs rest on the plastic dash enclosure walls and bounce around because there is nothing holding them in place. You'd expect there to be holes for the pegs to go into but mine weren't in nor did I see any.

The fix is simple. What you'll need is less than an inch of 9/32" windshield washer hose and something to cut it with. They cut a small piece for me for free at my local AutoZone.

Open the glove compartment, empty it, reach under and squeeze the sides allowing the compartment to drop down. Cut the hose in half and slide the pieces over the plastic pegs on the sides. It will be snug so you don't need to glue them or anything.

Trim the tubes down so they are close to the length of the pegs and put the glove compartment back in, ensuring you're inserting the plastic hooks/hinge at the bottom rear into their slots in the dash.

Just reverse the removal process: squeeze the sides as needed and pivot it up until the pegs hold it up.

The photos are before I trimmed the tubes back.

Put your stuff back in, close the glove compartment and you're done.

May you enjoy peaceful silence as you drive throughout the kingdom (at least until you realize the glove compartment rattle has been drowning out the creaks coming from around the steering column),

His royal highness, King McGyver

Wouldn't it have been easier just to turn the stereo louder? Used to fix of lot of noise issues that way back in the day.

Not really. A one time 3 minute simple fix anyone can perform is easier than turning up the radio every time you drive the car.

Besides, the engine's got a good beat and you can dance to it.

I did something similar with a low profile weather strip where the door meets the dash. has kept it tight for years, even with how often I open for the paperwork for the boys in blue! Great repair and share to the group! I love these little fixes and workarounds

I dont notice any squeaks or rattles...but 25 years of driving a 400 CI Pontiac with headers and duals and lots of loud music has reduced my hearing to crap anyway.

That's one good thing about being hearing impaired, if my car is rattling, I don't know it. LOL
