How do you increase the displacement of a motor?

Topic. right now, the ls3 has 376 ci and I'd like to upgrade to the 454 ci that the lsx454 has but without having to buy the whole engine. I plan on adding LT's, new cam, headers, forged pistons, etc. as I save up the cash to the stock LS3 but the bigger project later on is to get the 454 ci somehow and still keep the cam,LT's, etc that I put on the Ls3 so I don't waste them. Would this even be possible or do I have to actually buy the whole lsx454 to get the displacement upgrade?

Without knowing the technical details of the LS3..boring out the cylinders along with stroking them may get you to 454 Ci with a small block.

Ok, thanks for the info. So probably replacing the stock block with the LSX454 block would be the easier route and I hear that the 454 block is aluminum? I don't know much about stroked motors but it's sounding like that it would be a waste to buy forged pistons for the LS3 since I would need larger pistons for the bigger cylinders in the 454 block. Is that pretty much the only thing that would be different? Mostly worried about wasting $$ upgrading the LS3 when they won't fit on the 454 block (or bored Ls3 block)

I am sure you can. Just cost money.

I have seen 454cid LS2s.

But to increase cid you are going to manipulate bore and stroke, going bigger to add displacement.

I think it would be cheaper (and more reliable) to just buy the LSX454 than turn the LS3 into one. The LS7 (428ci) needs cylinder walls and sleeves and all that to make its bore and stroke work. To get to 454, you'd probably need to do even more.
