can I install a universal heated seat kit in the base camaro LS - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I received a universal heated seat kit as a gift. Can I install on a base camaro. I have the velour style seats. I ask because I always thought that heated seat can only be installed with leather seats. Concerned about the heating element burning into the foam or through the fabric, possible???

I do have the Iggee simulated leather seat covers as well but since the job is very long to do I want to make sure before I take the seats apart.

why not... its universal and its just a seat. its not a rocket ship seat.

I wouldn't put a heater underneath a cloth seat. But thats just me.

i had heated cloth seats in my bmw but i wouldnt do it again was not very usable, cloth does not displace the heat well (just gets really hot quick and cools of quickly)and is just not the same feel as heated leather

just my .2 cent though

thats what my freind said that the cloth/velour fabric is not thick enough so it will get real hot, however I do have the iggee seat covers so I was thinking it may be good enough. I figure I will try it out and see what happens.

Yes it can be done, I did it , but it was a lot of work and in the end not sure it was worth it. Had to rip the seats out, remove the seat covers then the fabric. If you are going to do this , plan it out and take your time. I saved a lot of money doing it myself, if you pay someone they are gonna kill you on price, thr labor is simply not worth it.

But they did hold up well and had no issues at all . I ended up trading my car in for the v8 model so I have no idea if they are still working
