What's needed to get Camaro to super car type performance?

I'm new to the site and have a performance question. If the SS is capable of a 0-60 time of near 4.5 what mods are needed and the added cost to the car to get supercar type performance? such as like the GTR or 911TT
thanks in advance

First let's say super cars are 3.5 seconds to 60 mph and a top speed of 200 mph and can run the 'ring in under 7:30. If you agree with that then you need a ton of HP. Probably 750 considering the ZR1 is making 630 and weighs 600 pounds less. You'd need massive braking improvements as most super cars are sporting ceramic discs. And probably some chassis tweaks.

Keep in mind the Camarowas never intended to run with cars costing $100,000 and up so you would need a lot to get there.

Toby, if you are thinking on getting one and doing the mods to get your "super car", yes they can be done and as #3 said, it will take a lot of things but they can be done and you will still come in under the $100,000 of the above figure. A supercharger, CAI, long tube headers and exhaust, custom cam and a dyno tune will get you close to the HP you will need at a price some where around $15,000 and then you will need to address the chassis with upgraded componites. (Shocks, bushings, lowering, brakes, tires, etc.) This will get the cost up there but you will have a beast if you have the money and want a different kind of a "super car".

what you could do would be the following:

Supercharger (vortech or magna)
Headers 1 7/8"
Xpipe & cat back
Some cam set up

Thats for power..

Then pedders suspension the best setup you can find
upgraded brakes..

Thats for handling

If you want to loose weight get as many body parts removed as possible and replaced with carbon fiber parts..

Anything else people?

you could with alot of upgrades to suspension, braking, HP, but there is one thing, that you cant really change. that is the big flat font of this car. Its not meant to go much over the speed limiter without breaking apart. The car is also too tall to handle like a super car. An example of trying to make a car performer like a super car is the Golf GTI

the 3.5 to 60 is probably doable with 530 HP or so. My fastest so far is 3.8 but with a better driver might be able to get 3.6 with 500HP, maybe somebody on here already is in that 3.5 second range ?

The car would definitely need a diet. And adding a NOS sticker gains you the required amount of horsepower necessary...

Well I just returned from Sebring where I ran with Chin Motorsports. I ran with and out ran many exotics and domestic super cars. Sure I have many mods but still only add up to less than $55,000 for the whole car. Get some power adder I choose Turbo for a good reason........ And some Pfadt sways, BMR suspension parts, Hawk pads and go kick some super car butt. As I told many its not all about the car its more the driver.

To compare it would probly easilly hit $50k for spedd, handling and top speed -correctly. We've built a few Vette's that do all this. They have full suspensions,brakes,stroker/FI motor's ect.

If your just looking for 0-60 or 0-100 thats easy.My personal 1999TA would kill them but in no way would it hit the top speed safely, turn or stop like them.
