R6P Code Worth Anything?

so.......those of us with the R6P code (early order activity) in the build sheets......ya think it's worth anything?

i looked through the "for sale" listings but didn't see 1 R6P listed for sale.

the reason I ask, is my wife made mention that she's not happy with the Kooks w/ cats, Corsa and Roto-Fab CAI i just put on "her car".

so i'm either putting all the stock stuff back on it (i still have everthing), trading it in for a 2011 or putting the stock stuff back on it and buying a new one for ME and put all my stuff on it.

i just wondered if the R6P code would mean anything in terms or value. we got it because we wanted it, we really don't care about the R6P code, the GM Performance Badge or any of that stuff.

I'm thinking no, since it really isn't a added value option. 95% of Camaro buyers wouldn't even know what it is, unless someone explained it to them. It may add some value 20 years from now.

It wont add value until these cars become collectors items... And even then it might not.

I agree. In 2030 or 2040 when they drive one of the R6P coded cars across the Barrett-Jackson stage it'll perk a little interest. Most of the really valuable auction cars are the all-original parts with documentation models.

I can see putting all the stock stuff back on and keeping it for her and buying yourself one. I don't understand putting the stock stuff back on and then trading it. What would this change? As far as the R6P code. It is special to me that my car is an R6P build, but only time will tell if the code actually adds any value.

How do you know there are none. I thought you cant tell without the build sheet?

Someone could be selling one but not advertising the R6P code, no?

its going to take more than 20 yrs. The 3rd gens were HOT when they came out. I don't see anyone drooling over those anymore. And those are pushing 30 + yrs.

I can't help but think the R6P code will carry some weight somewhere down the line. To me, the most beautiful thing about preordering and buying an R6P to those of us who did, is that we took a chance on GM when they were in dire straits! We put our faith in GM and the Camaro...and have been rewarded!

The biggest issue in the R6P being valuable in the future is the cars are all over the map as far as production VIN numbers and there wasn't any limitations on number ordered. I'm not knocking the early buyers...We were there on the Solstice (#313 off the line, one of the "first 1000" with full documentation of the program)...but I don't know that it will ever make a difference.

In 30-40 years, you may see a low-mileage R6P car going for more than a like-equipped vehicle, but it may not be by much. My thoughts are to enjoy the car (right now we are daily-driving an '09 GT1 vette vert-1 of 10 produced)...and plan to continue. If it is worth something in the future, so be it. I'm personally planning on it being a "survivor" vs. a trailer-queen 40 years from now!
