Audi S5 vs. SS - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

It seems almost every guy in their Mid to late 20's that lives around Boston is going out and buying an A4 or 3 Series BMW. It's actually pretty obnoxious.
It's got me thinking about how would a SS stack up against the S5?
They are in totally different price ranges, but performance wise not that far apart.
Judging by the specs I looked up, it looks like the SS wins in a straight line and in the curves, what do you guys think?

there in 2 completly different catergories. 1 is a muscle car the other is a luxary coupe.
the camaro outperforms the audi in both price and performance, barly in performance but better no the less. but the audi is bigger inside,more comfortable, more options, more practical, and better quality all around the car.

i would like to see a audi rs4 vs camaro ss . altho not in the same price range they both toss out simular performance numbers.

S5 is gorgeous. I know what you mean about every 20-something male buying an entry level luxury car. I live in LA so it is even worse out here. Most people driving 3-series have them on leases, can barely make the lease payments let alone insurance, upkeep, and ticket costs, and they drive them like the arrogant, narcissistic jerks they are. I'd love to buy a used BMW because they truly are very good driver's cars, and (pre-Bangle) the styling is very nice. I just don't want to be grouped with all the idiot 20-somethings that are so desperate for the badge. Sad state of affairs.

Not sure that I would classify an S5 as an "entry level luxury car". Equipped at a decent level they are $60k. I have spent some time in an S5 and was getting ready to purchase one instead of the Camaro. They put the power to the pavement with the all wheel drive and they have some grunt behind them. I can't compare it to the Camaro as I haven't driven one yet.

SS...... Audi is nice, but sides and rear end suck.... I was always a Bimmer guy, so I am biased.

S5 is an amazing car. My girlfriend is ordering a red/black one.

However, its not meant to be a performance car. Its worth the $$, but not for the performance. The SS should beat it in that, though id be suprised if the SS feels any faster. The S5 pulls like it has more than 350...

A5 is a beatiful car.. but the new 2010 has a 4 cylinder turbo tat has only 211 hp.. and it costs around 40 grand... they shud lower the pricing (say around 32 or 33 grand ) and i mite go with the A5 instead of the camaro. (rather have a luxury coupe than a muscle car)
