yeah, i used a signal converter and spliced into the wires running to the factory amp behind the carpet in the trunk. all of my wiring is contained within the trunk!

There is actually a pre-amp signal right in the trunk. You can splice right into with no line converter needed. As a matter of fact, when I first did my install I used a line converter and the sound quality sucked. (i was converting a signal that didn't need converting) After getting some advice on here, I eliminated the line converter, spliced directly into the pre-amp signal and it sounds great now.

Actually what I meant by converter was the thing to hook it up to rca's. I don't have any pics of when I was installing it as I was kinda crunched for time. I do have a pic of the box installed. Ill try to link it up here but don't know if it is going to work from my phone.

hey lightson......did u figure out what wires you needed? if you didnt, do u have the boston acoustic system or the regular system?

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...t=33592&page=2
that is the link that shows the wiring harness' for the car. if you have the BA system then you want to look at post #2 and use the diagram for "audio amplifier X3 (UQA)". i hooked into the white wire (pin#1) for the amp remote turn-on. pin 4 and 12 for the right side signal, pin 5 and 13 for the left side signal. you will probly have to pull the cloth tape back a little from the connector in order to get the space to splice into the wires.

hope that helps. if you need any more info, post on here or PM me!

Are you reffering this information to models without the BA system. If so where and what color are these wire to be conected to?

+1 Where are these Pre-Amp Signals????

I know some members have installed line converters succesfully, but if i don't have to I can save myself $35. Thanks in advance.

There are no pre-amp signals. The outputs of the head unit are amplified and go to the BA amplifier OR to the speakers (if no BA option). So the only signals you can access are amplified signals.

Other than replacing the entire head unit, line converters are needed. I'm assuming bng804 is using an amplifier that accepts speaker-level inputs...??? Anyway, I installed my line converter for my sub and it sounds great.

****EDIT: This is incorrect. I was confusing the BA system with the Monsoon system in the 4th Gens.***
