HUD will be standard on 2LT and 2SS, but will it be an option for other models as well for an extra fee?

I'm gonna guess you can probably get it on a 1LT and 1SS since its "standard" on the 2LT and 2SS. However, I don't think it'll be offered on the LS.

If it's like the C&C package, then it will be available on the 1LT but not the 1SS.

C&C isn't available on the 1SS? How does that make any sense?

No - unfortunately it's not a free-flow option due to build complexity.....it's only part of the 2LT or 2SS package.

It will be nice if us 2010 guys can add a HUD to our cars kinda like Corvette did. Might be a bit of work but that's okay...

I think it would be nice if HUD was an OPTION on the 2LT and 2SS....rather than a standard feature....unless of course the price doesn't go up. I just think some people don't want it. JMO

Probably answered in the thread talking about the new features, but it's too long so I'll ask it here. Anyone know if the HUD option can be added to the 2010 2SS cars? DIY? Seems like it may be too complex.

cut a hole in your dash, get the new harness(es) and have it flashed

Just like the CC package the HUD will not be offered IMO in the 1ss so that way it forces people to step up and spend the extra money for the 2ss. GM has to make money too. On the flip side it could deter people from the 2ss because the hud is standard, (if they are totally against it)and then they would spend less and get the 1ss. I wanted all the bells and whistles except leather, couldn't get it so I went 1ss. That's all my opinion, no fact behind it. That's just how I look at the option and pricing structure.

than the speed limit (well maybe quite a bit faster)in my Passat and I didn't want to take my eyes off the road to check my speed. It was like the light bulb turning on---that's why I'm waiting for the 2011 and HUD, I knew there was a reason.

I'm sure it would but it couldn't be very much, maybe like 1-2 lbs? Maybe if the required windshield was heavier than the normal one but idk. I've never driven a car with a HUD.
