I would say if the fluid you choose doesn't meet the GM spec indicated than yes it could void in the event of a failure. Of course they have to prove you didn't use an approved fluid. So DIY or use the GM goods.

The RP synchromax in the trans will make it shift smoother. If it doesn't, then something is wrong and it will need work.

RP in both spots worked great for me. Don't let them talk you into a different brand because they don't stock it. Trans more picky than the rear. Any synthetic with the correct weight, rating, and LS additive will work fine in the rear. The trans sychros are very picky though. RP seems to have nailed the formula.

I watched an automotive program once where they changed all fluids and replaced with synthetic. They dyno'd the car before and after, and it was surprisingly better after the fluid change.

The tranny in my LS3 is tough in 2nd and 3rd. I am probably changing to Mobil 1 ATF tonight. It is supposed to make a hell of a difference... I have the fluid and pump... just not sure if I have time...

According to the Owners Manual, only GM fluids are approved for the manual transmission. For the rear axle, the fluid must conform to GM Spec 9986226.

That said, I doubt they'll be able to tell what you're using unless you tell them. They might ask for receipts to show required maintenance was done when you make a warranty claim.

I've never seen a spec tester at a dealer, so safe to say - use what works. Some knuckledragger ever says - that doesn't meet the approved spec, say - prove it.

In years of tinkering with MN6 cars I've learned they are very finicky on the lube making the synchros happy. And there is differences throughout the years. I had an 01 F body and 04 Z06 that worked great on Amsoil ATF. That same Amsoil was junk in my '10 Camaro, made 3rd gear clash/grind when cold. However in the Camaro RP Synchromax works great. So who knows, but when I find what works that's what I stick with no matter what the rating.

I agree. Audi will void warranties if you use an unapproved grade of fluid. I'm pretty sure that GM may do the same.

I would stay with the GM manual transmission fluid.
I have friends that have use RP in the Corvette 6 speed transmission, and it did not improve shifting, so they went back to the GM fluid.
