My First SS Mod

So I picked up my 2013 1SS this week and just had to mess with it. I kept the under hood Chevy Emblem from my 1LT and stuck it on the SS. It's a small first step, but technically it's a mod (cosmetic). Getting my Heritage Grille installed tomorrow.

What do ya think?

I see those holes drilled in the strut towers that are just begging for a brace....

LOL @ mods will be minimal... that's what I said when I first started modding my V6

Thanks guys.

I know, I know... there will be mods but (unlike my 1LT) at least I won't have to start by tryin to make it sound or run like a V8 (which can't be done). I kept my 1LT Catch Can, which will work on the SS, so that's a free-bee. I will likely get a CAI unit for it. Stripes may be in its future as well. So how much are those braces anyway?

Okay STOP! You've already got me spending more money.

Well if you get the custom painted strut brace's from Lupe on here its only like 3 bills depending on what you want. The part itself I believe straight from GM is around 150 including the 6 bolts.

That was smart to keep the Catch can, like you said a free-bee.

Well my second mod was supposed to happen today. When I bought the car I got the option they call "dealer installed body colored grille" ($475) - I call it a Heritage Grille because it looks the same as the aftermarkets by that name (see Chevy site photo).

So I get to the dealer and he says it will be ready in less than an hour. I politely said "I don't think so". He looked and looked for the GM labor hours and finally called the local body shop they use. The guy told him their labor hours for a grille remove and replace is 3.7! Apparently the dealer hasn't installed one of these yet,

I made another appointment for next week and will leave it with them. RATS! Gonna see if I can get a nice retro "SS" to put in place of the bowtie and forget about the puny little one that's on the grille now..

Ha! See, you are getting the heritage grill and already you're changing the emblems! lol! Just admit that you're a mod junky like the rest of us! Admitting you have a mod problem is the first step to happiness!
