Wax before clear bra?
Disclamer: I'm a complete noob when it comes to taking care of my cars. They've just been a mode of transportation to me before.
Then came the 2010 Camaro, and everything changed ![]() I'll be picking up my dream car TODAY, and want it to keep it looking as awesome as it does today for years to come. One of the first things I'm planning on is a 3M Clear Bra, I have that setup already but need some advice on prepping the car for the install. Here's my questions: 1. What exactly should I do to prep my car for the Bra? 2. Should I attempt to do this myself (being the first time) or just get it professionally detailed? I have a rather tight budget but we're talking about my dream car so I'll do what is necessary. 3. We're considering the Zaino method as outlined in this forum, can I buy any of this locally? If so, where? We want to get the 'Black Mamba' off to a good start, so really appreciate any help. This forum has been great, so glad I found it. |

There is nothing you need to do for prepping the car. A good installer will prep the car for you. Some take off wax before installing film, others dont. From an installer's perspective I can tell you I REALLY appreciate it if you bring me a car thats clean. I hate working on car that are covered in bugs or really dirty... but it happens.
As far as Zaino goes you have to buy it from Zaino.com Really that is a good idea so ou wont be getting any middle man mark-up and you will get the best price out there. It takes about a week to come in but its well worth it. I also recommend using Zaino on clear bras... have been using it on there for years and it realy keeps the film looking nice and new. Good luck with the install... |

Give it a good wash and then clay it. get the bra then detail it. Since you plan on using Zaino you don't have to worry about taping off the bra as you are not going to use a pc.
