Audio recommendations
I am not satisfied with the BA sound system. I am adding a woofer/amp to the system so there is that.
What I would like recommendations on is replacing the speakers. I want to keep the head unit. I would basically like to just replace the speakers by removing one and adding the new. I know this may take some fabbing but you get the general idea. I am assuming I would need a passive setup for the front speakers meaning the tweets/doors? My goal here is to get better speakers in the car that are cleaner/clearer if that makes sense. Things I want to stay away from are: Replacing the head unit Hacking up the stock wiring. Cheers K |

Look at Hybrid Audio Technologies (Imagine Series), Image Dynamics (CTX Series), Arc Audio (KS Series), CDT, DLS, JBL.

So many things you can do. First thing, seriously, if you are wanting to keep the stock headunit, is can the the factory amp. Probably the biggest issue. If speakers is what you want to do, the options are endless, budget is the determining factor.
What kind of sound do you like? You like it bright? Go metallic tweeter. A little warmer sound preferred? Go with a silk, or textile, tweeter. Personally, I like the Memphis SQ series of components. Rainbow, Morel, Focal, aftermarket Boston Acoustics and JL. The list seriously goes on forever. Kicker makes good components too! Figure out a budget, and what kind of sound you want. It'll make choosing this stuff easier! |

Well I dont like bright for sure so I would lean toward warmer.
Really my determining factor is ease of install since I will be doing it myself so if I have spend/save/budget for more inorder to get a better/easier/drop in product that is what I do. I am of the mind do it once and do it right. So if you tell me Hertz is a perfect fit and you take the factory parts out and the Hertz fits right in BUT it costs more, well then I save longer. That make sense and give you and idea where I am coming from? |

I wish some of you all lived around Tulsa. I'd love to show you what I get out of this system that Gary Biggs and the Boys from JBL and Car Toys put together for me. Its the cleanest setup i've heard next to the Focal Utopia Beryllium Series.

Your best bet is to head to several audio shops and get an idea as to what sounds best to your ear. Find a place that will allow you to use the same head unit/amp, put in your favorite CD and go to town.
That is the best way to find what sounds best to you. If you can, set up each speaker at each different shop with the same amp and head unit to help curb the difference in sound from the way the system is wired up. My personal preference is Focal or MB Quart. Stay away from the lower end Best Buy/WalMart stuff. Just my .02. Happy hunting

Focal is awesome if you can afford the Utopia Series or the 3 way k2's Id look at the GTO series from JBL they are warm and powerful they pair effortlessly with their 1004 amplifier. and if money is no object do the 660gti's like i have in the doors and decklid.

I haven't heard them yet, but there is no way I would ever pay half of a SC for a set of speakers. My hearing sucks for some reason and I would never get the benefit of them.
![]() K2's are what I'm looking at going with. What size did you put in the front and rear deck? What size is the "center" speaker?

If you go K2's you will be happy. Make sure to pair it with the focal amplifiers. and if you need a deal I can hook u up on Focal amplifiers as well. 6 3/4 in my doors and I have a 5 1/4 560gti woofer in place of my center channel but thats only because I have the MS-8 processor, I wouldnt change my center channel unless going that route.
on a side note: If you're wanting your tweeter in the factory location you will have to drill a hole in your door next to the plug. (its the only way to wire it properly using a crossover for your speakers. I'll take pics on my install, it looks factory perfect.

I'm looking at using the Solid 4 to replace the factory (replaced) amp and running both front and rear's with it.
