Fastest LS3?

What's the fastest and average times for an LS3 in the 1/4 WITH the factory 21" rims? My friends getting one and I want to find out. He's a below average driver btw. lol

I'm serious. Those bigger wheels take off a tenth at least, right?

Its the weight of the wheels that matters. I dynoed 70 extra lb's of tq going from steel 18s to aluminum 16s on my 96 model. Rotational mass makes a big difference. As far as size of the wheels and tires, I bet they are close to the exact same height because of the tire size. 21s have a 35 sidewall, 20s have a 50 or 55 sidewall. Probably ends really close.

Yea, true. I didn't really think about the lower-profile tires. But, they are a bit heavier so I'm thinking .1 extra in the 1/4 is believable.

wrong Black is!

and on topic.. im guessing bigger wheels should take off/put on time depending on weight,,, im guessing they would be slower as they dont look like light weight wheels

The GM 21" wheels add rotational mass to the drivetrain, resulting in more torque needed to produce the same rotational speed as a 20" or 19" wheel, which will make the stock car slower with that wheel package. As for the height of the wheels and the effect on speed....a taller rim will need a smaller sidewall to keep the same rotation length and vice-versa. GM puts factory wheels, of whichever height, with Pirelli P-zero's on the car, and the computers are programmed for that wheel and tire set. Any change in rim size or tire sidewall without countering in the other parameter will change the overall height of the wheel and tire set, consequently changing the speedo readings unless the computer is reprogrammed accordingly. However, that won't matter at the strip, or in a head's up race. That said, the larger rim size can cause a slower time in the 1/4 vs. the same set-up power-train using a smaller diameter rim, but that extra time can easily be overcome by a better driver, or a higher power, specifically torque, output.

Hope that helps!

No, the fastest you've run is 12.97. You're supposed to use your corrected time, right?
