Zaino leaving a oily film?

Having issues with zaino z2, that i never noticed before(but then this is the first black car i have had in a while) I am applying it and letting it haze for about 10-15 mins....but when i go to remove it...there is constant spotting that looks like a residue. It causing me a lot of extra toweling on the car....even the spray detailer seems to be doing the same....am i doing something wrong?

That is common. I use two towels, one in each hand, when I buff the Zaino off. I will wipe with the first towel then wait for the splotches and buff them with the other towel.

Turtle Wax Ice does the same thing; definitely a two-towel buff required.

You may be using too much product. One ounce should easily do a camaro...from Zaino:

A little goes a long way. We've engineered Z-2 PRO™ to be extremely efficient. While applying Z-2 PRO™, do your best to apply very thin, even layers. As you become more familiar with the product, a single eight-ounce bottle will do a Corvette 20 times. Remember - when in doubt, use less. If your car's surface isn't in optimal condition, take the necessary steps to correct any imperfections before applying Z-2 PRO. For best results, always precede an application of Z-2 PRO™ with a Z-7 Show Car Wash. This will ensure the surface is free of any contaminants or incompatible oils/deposits. Z-2 PRO™ contains no cleaners, and no abrasives, therefore the surface must be in good condition before you apply Z-2 PRO™.
For your initial application, enable Z-2 PRO™ by mixing with ZFX Flash Cure Accelerator as directed by the instructions included with ZFX Flash Cure Accelerator. It is critical that you use ZFX Flash Cure Accelerator with Z-2 PRO™ for the initial application, or if multiple layers are to be applied within a 24 hour time period.* Apply a thin coat of Z-2 PRO™ to your entire car using a 100% cotton cloth or applicator pad. Heavy rubbing is not necessary. Remember: Z-2 PRO is extremely concentrated. 1 oz of Z-2 PRO can do the average sized vehicle 1 to 2 times including the rims. Less is better. Use as little product as possible.
Allow Z-2 PRO™ to haze (this should take 10-15 minutes in normal conditions), then by using a clean, 100% cotton, made in the USA towel to buff off Z-2 PRO™ and reveal the hidden beauty of your paint.
NOTE: Z-2 PRO™ is extremely durable and should provide at least 6 months of protection for your vehicle. If your goals are maximum shine and maximum protection on everyday vehicles, we recommend 3-4 applications per year. For show car owners, multiple coats will provide the wettest-looking, deepest, most distortion-free finish you can imagine.

* Note regarding ZFX and Z-2 PRO™ : For a more dramatic appearance and improved durability, Z-2 PRO™ can be layered multiple times. We recommend no more than 3 layers be applied over a 24-hour time period. Whenever you layer Z-2 PRO™, you must activate it with ZFX. For additional information, refer to the ZFX Flash Cure Accelerator page.

Thin means so light it looks like you're smudging the paint. Almost to that oily film swirl thing you say you got now. Should be easy to see on dark colors. Yellow is a bee-otch to see it in the right light. Zaino is not like the days of yore where you had very noticable smears.

Also, depending on weather conditions, you may need to leave it on there longer than 15 minutes if you are indeed using very thin coats. I usually go have a beer break or something after coating, which takes 20 minutes or longer, just to be sure.

You'll get the hang of it. I have CGM and was shocked at how "little" product you are supposed to use based on the video. I'm used to old school wax where you slather it on pretty think (you can see it on the paint - then let it dry and work up a sweat getting that $%#^ off, then detailing where you left wax in the creases). Not any more. I was pleasantly surpirsed on how easy Zaino went on and came off. I also use a folded blonde towel in both hands and - wow, what an awesome product. Good luck.

I have to agree, you're using too much. Remember a dime size drop on an applicator will do one whole section of the car (fender, door quarter panel, etc).

If you are using ZFX then the 2 ounce bottles that comes with it is the perfect measuring device. Half of one these bottles (1 ounce) will do the Camaro 3 times.

you wouldnt think that such a thin coat goes so far but it does. I use a very thin coat of zaino and dont go by time for removal...use your finger...take your finger and wipe a small line off on your car and if there is no streaking..its ready..if not let it sit. In the winter this could take several hours with a thin coat or in texas heat ...a few min. Plus...if you are using microfiber towels...WHICH you should be...always throw them in the washer before the first use...something about them being new always leaves residue on my cars. I use a small cup of oxyclean and thats it with hot water in the wash and then the towels are ready to go.
