Smile Hold on Ordering in California?

I was at a Chevy dealer in Fresno California today to order my 2010 Camaro. The sales person told me that I could not order yet. I was told that no one is able to order the new Camaro as of yet. What gives? Has anyone else been told no? Has anyone else in my area, or California, for that matter, been able to order?

I ordered in So. Cal. Your dealer is giving you BS it sounds like or he really doesn't know... I kind of doubt the latter.

Can anyone else believe we have this many dealers in the country that dont know this stuff? I'm beginning to think it's a conspiracy

I've toyed with the idea that some of theses dealerships have a small allotment of cars and are going to sell them to the highest budder.

Chevy has almost 4000 dealers in this country. This excess of dealers is a problem for GM, but it is good for us. Seriously, I've seen so many threads here talking about one stupid problem at a dealer after another. If your dealer does something stupid, don't come here whining. Sure warn us to not go to that dealer, but then just travel one block to the next Chevy dealer and try again. Don't put up with stupid crap.

Tell him CamaroScotty will order your car right now, and drop ship it to his dealership after it's built.

A friend of mine is a sales person at a California dealer and he said that on Monday the 13th all the sales people were called into a meeting with the sales Mgr. and were told that they would be using their full allocation for the dealership at $5k+ over MSRP but to still take a deposit and the "Configuration" people wanted and tell the customer we have already ordered all of our allocation. Supposedly the dealership used friends and relatives information to put in the "dealer" orders. Shades of Wallstreet.

Seems like that probably violates some rule of GM's...just a guess but I'd bet that's the case.

I'm really starting to get annoyed with some dealerships.I went to Ewing pontiac to check out the G8 last night. The salesman was VERY nice ,was showing me the inside and out. When it came time for the test drive,The douche bag sales manager comes and asks what my other options are as far as competitors. After telling him ,he says to go test drive thoses ones first so he can have his best shot at selling me one right after i drive it.I told him i drove half an hour to get there, and if i test drive the other cars i may not be back.He kept giving me Bullcrap reasons about not wanting to let me test drive. It was all BS,he was judging me becasue my hair goes down to the middle of my back and i was wearing a T-shirt and jean shorts. What he doesnt know is i could have bought 5 of them in cash right then and there (but i was not gonna tell him that).I guess i should have brought my bank statement to show him how much he screwed up as i walked out.

I hate asshole's like that and feel ya as I'm in the same boat (hair down to my ass, earings, tatoos's and always wear shorts). I love the typical stereo-type and blowing peoples mind when I get treated that way as to my education, work experience and how much MORE I make in a week than they do in a month. Oh well, it takes all types to make the world go round and being the douche bag he is just cost him a sale, I personally would have showed him my bank statement, gave him the bird and then posted negative feedback with the owner in more ways than one.
