Ulitimate Factories - and the VIN's in it..

All,

My car has made it onto the rail car as of yesterday afternoon.. finally.

So - I've been watching the Ultimate Factories show about once a day (yes... I have issues.. they will pass when the car shows up..)

I noticed the following:

The show was taped in the 7/29/09 time frame (saw computer screen in body shop)

The car on the line that the camera's stopped for a quality check was
VIN: 37187

The car in the paint shop was VIN: 31622

and interestingly - the V8 engine being moved from its cradle to the assembly line was destined for VIN: 32534 which tells me specific engines get married to specific cars (Ok - it is interesting to me..)

These are all assumptions on my part - but it is giving me something to do while I call CSX every 2 hours!

No assumption - the VIN is actually assigned to the engine before it starts getting built at the St. Catherines plant. We took a tour of the Martinrea plant where they make the front and rear suspension modules and actually saw car VIN numbers on every unit before they were shipped out to the Oshawa plant. Talk about cool just-in-time inventory!

The stock struts I removed from my car have the VIN# on the part label that is attached to them! First time in all my automotive years (been out of the biz for 10 years now tho) I have ever seen that...

Very cool OP , and don't worry your baby will arrive soon enough and then instead of neglecting everything and sitting on here you'll neglect everything and drive her around .

That's what happened to me anyways
