Down payment

How much you guys putting as a down payment for the 2SS? I'm not sure how much I should be saving for a reasonable car payment!

Save as much as you can. I'll be getting a 1SS, and my goal is to put down over half and still have about $10k in the bank. While that would allow me plenty of money to put down more, I feel that financial security is very important. If you can buy it with cash, then you should as long as you have enough in the bank for an emergency.

with the credit crunch you should probably plan on 10%.

The general rule of thumb is a minimum of 20% of the total cost (including tax, tag, and title) as the car will depreciate 20% within the 1st year and you don't want to be upside down on a car. As already said put down as much as you can while still being financially secure but 20% is the recommended minimum. Personally I plan on putting down $15,000 on my 2SS.

I am getting a 2SS/RS and will be putting 10% down. I know some will say that isn't enough but I am buying the car to own it for a very long time so I am not worried about being upside down the first few years. Also, I got mine at MSRP so with 10% down I am at a car payment I can live with comfortably which I feel is most important. Just my 2cents.

What's the price and spec diff between 1SS and 2SS anyway? I looked at it a while ago and I forget.

I'm for sure putting 15k down, hopefully I'll have 20k to put down though.

Not sure what the percentage is. But I'm expecting to put down $15,000 (possibly $16,000) and the vehicle has a total MSRP of $37,275 (I forget the exact last 2 digits).

I guess your down payment really depends on your situation. I have my own business so I write of 100% of the monthly payment but the down payment I cannot write off.

Thus, I will put down as little as possible.

My account screamed at me for putting down 10K on my 2003 Tahoe. He told me to put down nothing and finance the whole thing.
