Yes...while you'll get a great smoke cloud going, it will not result in lower times!

I have about 50 passes on my Camaro SS and here is what I do on my stock P-Zeros:

I drive around the water box, do a quick (about 3K rpm launch) burn out to clean the tires

Pull up the line and get ready...

I launch at 2250 - 2500 rpms...I don't dump the clutch I release fast but still slip it a tad. Might take me a hair over 1 second to release fully. I roll into the throttle at launch and by about 4K rpm or 4.5K rpm...she's on the floor!

I shift at 6.2K rpm and keep heading down the track...shift again at 6.2K rpm and cross the line right when I need to be shifting into 4th if I held my 1-2 and 2-3 shifts long enough.

I do not lift the gas for the 2-3 shift...only punch the clutch and grab 3rd! (I do lift for 1-2 though as she tends to get a tad loose on me!) LOL!

Consistent 60ft times are around 2.0 for me and while I think I should be running faster than I have...I seem to be getting good traction (pulled a 12.7 @ 111 mph on a TVS2300 only, no other supporting mods) but it is summer and 90 plus when we are at the track...so better times for sure this fall!

I now have LTs, CAI and a new tune...so better times to come. I am learning still though but I get out there and practice!

Don't worry what anyone else runs or who you are running or anything other than learning your technique for getting down the track. Once you have it down, then you can start to get quicker on the lights, get some mods in and have some fun!
