Do our cars have weak air-conditioners?
It is mid 90s today and my air-conditioner seems to be a little weak. It is working but it's like it doesn't supply enough air. I need to have the fan on high (which is noisy). Is this how the Camaro is supposed to be or should I take it to the dealer?

I was just thinking the same thing today and it wasn't even that hot. Around upper 70's today and just to cool the car I had to max out the A/C. I was contemplating tinting the windows to keep the greenhouse from heating up. Maybe a trip to the dealer is instore. Def the worst A/C out of any new car that I have gotten.

I had the same problem with a brand new Aurora, it was just a little low on refrigerant, I`m thinking about adding just a bit to see if it helps, I`m only able to get my thermometer down to about 44, should go down to 40.

Nothing is True
|
Oddly enough, I've also been wondering if there was something wrong with my a/c. I was wondering if it had enough freon. I can definately say it doesn't cool as well as I would like....and that it currently seems weaker than any other car I've ever owned. I don't mean that the blower is weak. It's the cooling that seems a bit weak. The temps here have been mild, so I've been wondering how much I'll suffer in the summer. Fortunately, I usually like to ride with the windows down.
Of course, the only problem with having the windows down is that people stop me in traffic to talk to me about the car That happens all the time.

I just took mine back to the dealership to have the A/C looked at, I felt that the air was cooling enough for my liking.
As it turned out, it needed additional refrigerant (I think they are often low from the factory) and there is a HVAC update for the ECU. After the ECU was updated and the refrigerant was topped off the A/C is now blowing frosty air. I highly recommend you take it in and have someone take a look at it. Good luck. |
