oil capacity

what is the oil capacity with a new filter for the 6.2 ls3 engine?

9 quarts i do beleive.

It reads 8 qts. in the owners manual. Some say 8.5 qts. I just changed my oil and 8 did the trick for me.

8-8.5 works. The total capacity is probably 9 but you can't drain all of it, there is the oil cooler and the lines to and from that.

i use 8 and my oil level is perfect.

8 as the owners manual states and my oil level is perfect.

It takes about 8.5 quarts when you pre-oil the filter.

For those who do not know what pre-oil means. Before installing a new filter fill it with the oil you will be using. It will take about 3 to 4 fills before the filter element is completely soaked. I do this on a Miata, it's filter goes on horizontal.
