I've been reading and lurking around these forums for months and I finally got the courage to buy this intake kit! Should be in by Friday! I will be doing the installation by myself but after reading about what others went through I think I'm well prepared.

Just curious, if you don't disconnect the battery or pull the fuses, will the ECU eventually catch on and adjust to the new intake?

Hello Blackmagic,

Sounds great. Let us know how it turns out.

If you have any questions at all, do not hesitate to ask

Hello jleinaweaver,

The battery disconnect on the 3.6L V6 is more for a safety issue. No need to pull the fuses as the computer will adjust to the new parameters on its own.

Thanks,
David

Couple of feedback points for the d-i-y crowd ( I am no expert but made a few observations and figured I'd post so others have it easier):

1. A little soapy water for lubrication and a flat blade screwdriver to open up the gap for the rubber weatherstrip help tremendously. I held it in my lap and applied pressure to the top of the weatherstrip prior to installing the body into the engine bay. Figured out about halfway through that a little lube would make it a much easier job. A small amount of soapy water wipes off and dries out well.

2. When you are putting the screw and lock washer into the spacer/brace for the negative post/ground relocation, to reach the bolt stand on the driver's side facing forward and use your right hand to turn the bolt. The angle makes it a lot easier to hold the pieces and turn the bolt inside the bracket.

3. Apply a little chalk on the top of the weatherstripping to show where it makes contact on the hood liner. Looks like a light contact helps insulate out the hotter engine bay air.

4. When popping out the "re-used" stock air inlet tube it is easy to pop out the wide side on the top first then the sides; also easy to pop it back into the new housing small side down.

5. I would have insulated the MAF sensor had I thought about it if I was not disconnecting the battery. BTW - I will always disconnect the battery as my prior luck with a fried ECU (Land Cruiser) taught me the hard way.

Again this is just my $0.02. Hope it helps.

Curious, how would you have insulated the MAF sensor?

I think mine took about 3 or 4 business days. Just depends on where you are located I would guess. If you don't see it in 5 business days I'd give them a call to track it.

Ok, I understand what your doing. At first I thought you were insulating the exterior MAF Sensor inlet from engine bay heat when installed.

Never mind.

I got my air intake on Friday and I installed it Saturday morning. The installation took me about 2 hours with a partner. I have seriously almost zero knowledge about cars and I found that the instructions were easy to follow and I ran into no problems. The power increase is amazing and I love the sound. I would post pics but it has been raining the past week so I'll wait until next week.

I did not get a CEL reading or whatever the error message is. I didn't unplug my battery or fuses and I left all my doors closed throughout the whole installation. I turned on the car and it worked perfect. Thanks for a great product.

I got my airaid today and when I looked at the box it had a sticker on it saying for "off highway" use only. Has anyone elses come with this and will the dealership still install it?

Hello kcamarom,

All the Camaro systems have that. It is a brand new product that has been released recently and not CARB legal, so we have to put that provision on the box for legality reasons.

Thanks,
David
