Glad to see that the Halltech is only 4hp less than the CAI and ADM race.

Wonder what the Halltech would do with the ADM scoop. Do you think I would need to have the car re-tuned with the race scoop added? I'm wondering if it would be enough to change the A/F ratio.
Actually the Halltech Yellow Jacket tied the CAI intake on peak HP but had the higher peak torque (9lbs-ft vs. 7.7lbs-ft). Interesting that the IAT temps were 1 degree cooler for our intake even comparing it to the CAI with the add on scoop.

I think looking at just the intakes, without scoops, or tuning, Halltech is the leader.

Our Carbon Fiber intake fell on its face. Ted indicated that it was at +18% LTFs which puts open loop at way over 13:1 and knock retard, pinging....you know the drill. We have always stipulated that the Carbon Fiber unit needed MAF recalibration due to the 102mm cross section MAF read area.

Our testing showed a 4 HP gain with the Carbon Fiber Bumble Bee over the plastic Yellow Jacket. This with MAF re-cal only, and no other tuning tweaks.

The problem with the CF unit is it's extreme price vs. plastic.

I too wonder what happened to the famed Vararam?

I believe the washer bottle needs to come out. I think I read that in the email from Ted on Monday when he was doing mine. I didn't mind, its never been used in over a year.

wow thats good work. Its interesting though. While the hp & tq numbers on the CAI intake with the adm scoop are higher, so are the IAT's then the CAI w/ no scoop. I thought lower IAT's translates to denser cooler air which means more power. I'm not disputing the work, I'm just confused. By just adding the scoop your getting a good gain in hp and tq but how?

What the initial air temperature is before each test could and did vary.
What matters, is how well each unit holds the temperature down.
More torque and hp are gained by the scoop drawing in even more air.

Great job Ted, thanks! It would have been interesting to see what difference the scoop made when used with all the other intakes! Maybe a CAI part 3 test?! LOL!

As said, ambient temps will vary during the day. What's important is the variation during the run. All the ones you pointed out has zero temp variance which means they weren't affected by underhood temps. That's the key point in posting them. It would have been nice to see what the ambient temp was at the beginning of each test but i'm sure the 3k rpm temps were probably close if not dead on them. If you just went by temps, the OEM system had the lowest overall temps. It was also the first test of the MORNING, which means cooler ambient air. That brings up a good point though. The initial run of 372/364 was done with almost 10 degree cooler air than the ADM, CAI, and Halltech. I would think that could easily account for an extra 3-5whp. Yet I digress.

The scoop itself just puts more air into the area around the filter, meaning the intake doesn't have to "suck" as hard to get it.

Is there any way of using the scoop without eliminating the washer reservoir?

I don't think so. Looking at the pictures it looks like the scoop goes right where the washer bottle is. If you were to leave it or get it to fit some how it would basically fill up the scoop and thus be worthless.

You should probably post that question on ADM's thread and see what that say.

Awesome results!
especially when you can compare results with $ Price of units!

Looks like the Cold Air Inductions for $399 + $75 ADM Scoop does just about the same or better then the ADM Unit for $600.
Both appeared to do very well in testing. I do know for fact ADM quality is top notch.

Mrniceguy633 Thank you for the use of your 2010 Camaro and making the trek up here from NY twice, we enjoyed your company.

This was a big one we tested 14 systems in 9 hours, all the kits had to be preassembled to save time so no install times are included.

I have updated the 2009 test and included it, so scroll down to SEE, JRE V8 CAI TEST 9/17/10 on the spread sheet, this way you have all the data on one sheet.

I have added a note on systems that I feel from experience will do better with a tune due to fuel trim numbers and WOT A/F ratios.

If I have made any Typos Please bring them to my attention and and I will recheck the data, correct it, and make a new link.

Needless to say I am tired took me 2 days in between daily Phone calls, emails, and questions from my guys.

We got a big Surprise when we combined ADMs Scoop with the CAI kit.

If you don't understand the data Please ask and I will explain it in Clear English, sorry I don't speak any other languages

Enjoy

Cold Air Inductions was used as a CONTROL from the 2009 test.

And by Popular Demand we added and ADM Scoop to the CAI and WOW!
