How about running them on a 10" wide rim because everyone says nittos run small. Sure some day i'd like to widen them to 11" but I have other mods first.

Low-profile sidewalls are designed to support the weight of the vehicle when they are in a nearly vertical position, not pulled in and bulging. Being a drag racer, you probably realize that using too much tire can actually slow you down. Most of us drag racers know to use just enough tire that the vehicle requires. I'll bet a proper fitting 275 wide drag radial (if it existed in 20") would work just as well or better than that poorly fitting 315 tire. The factory 9.0" wide wheel is pretty narrow. Even a 295 is pushing the limit on that width.

Bulging tires might look cool to some, I even think it can look cool sometimes. But, I suppose I prefer to go with what fits properly, and maintain performance and handling characteristics. Maybe I'm getting old

Tony
I did not want to be the first to say this but tires are what I do for a living and I would never allow this to happen in my shop. The most I will go outside mfg recommended specs is .5". The tire is just not going to perform as well as it should. Over time I have also seen it seperate the sidewall from the tread.

I think those look terrible on the stock wheel. They're too wide for the wheel for sure.

I think 10" would be okay. 9" stock=not okay In my professional opinion.

I agree. If you look closely at the pictures, you can see that the tire is bulging (big time).

And from what I've been seeing the Nitto NT05R's do not run small. The Nitto Invos run smaller than the NT05Rs.

I'm putting 315 NT05's on a 20x11, 275's on 20x10.
