As for aesthetics, I attempted to run the 'clean side' PVC line around back, under the cover, and to the 1LE separator, but I wasn't happy with the way it looked or how it sat on the painted engine cover.

So, I ended up just running it at the front and connecting in to the 1LE separator tube. I used the Dorman 800-059 quick connect that CDB95 did. However, in an effort to use the same braided lines I used on my RX catch can, I cut the quick connect and attached the braided line to it and the 1LE separator tube. I then used heat shrink to give it a clean appearance.

Looks awesome!
really nice red engine compartment.
Does it sound different?

Thanks. I expected it to sound different, but I didn't notice any difference really.

If I'm being honest, this CAI is more about the looks than anything else

I didn't notice a major sound difference until I got on it and let the revs go above 4000. Then you really hear it sucking air. It's a cool little sound. It was nice to see somebody get dyno results before and after. I really like the stock look of it.

Also, has anybody done anything with the tab next to the MAF connection? I'd like to secure the MAF wiring with the stock clip if anybody knows that P/N. Probably $25 because it's for a Z/28.

Looks good. No cars will act the same way to mods, do you have NPP?
I noticed a slight change in sound at idle, immediately after installing the intake. I noticed slightly quicker response at the throttle!

As far as Z28 intake being only for looks?? Read post #13 on this post, thanks.

I've been driving my car for the last 6000 miles and know how it works and runs. When I installed the intake it felt slightly faster when pressing the pedal. I felt a quickness that wasn't there before. Just being honest!

True, at higher RPM is where it definitely changes the sound the most. Also when turning off engine I've heard a nice swoosh! Haven't looked into the tab thing, but was thinking the same thing. Thanks!

Creeper, I didn't mean to say it was just for looks. If you read the comments to your own dyno posts, you'll see that I have been following your testing. I was only saying that looks were the biggest factor for me. HP was second.

I do have the NPP exhaust. I doubt our cars are responding all that different -- even your dyno shows the HP differences are at higher RPMs . . . . where I did note I felt it breathing easier.

I have only driven her a few miles since the install, so I'll give her another whirl to see if I notice a sound difference.

I know, thanks! I just want it to point out what other guys are saying on that other thread, all positive opinions. I meant as far as exhaust notes it may sound different depending on exhaust type. Wasn't trying to be rude or anything. Oh, definitely, I agree with you. Looks 1st was what did it for me, like you HP was my 2nd factor. Still a great mod!

Reference that MAF wiring retaining tab, I hadn't even noticed it, but now I'm intrigued!

Would something like this work?

Both good options! I will try clean up my install and route the hose better and I wll use one of these retainers, thanks!

I just put the Z28 CAI intake on this past weekend. I ended up buying the stock Z28 PCV line as well and then basically just using the 90 degree end. I used a razor blade to slice through the plastic line and left about 1/2 inch or so of line attached to the fitting. I then slid the rubber hose over the fitting and routed the rubber hose so that it neatly tucks up inside of the cover. I used a couple of zip ties to hold the line in place. Worked great.

Ron71, in inspired me.

I decided to take another look at running the clean side PVC line underneath. I think I have it where I want it now.

BEFORE:

And AFTER:

P.S. Perhaps it can be done with some additional manipulation, but my MAF sensor wiring is too short to allow it to be tightened up against that tab. So, I probably won't mess with it.
