Cold Air

Doesn't sound like much HP increase for the work/cost. I did install an Eibach anti roll sway bar set up. Night and day handling difference for less than $500 installed. Very happy now and can use more of the HP I have.

As Stated at the Opening post, As Modifications Progress larger increases over the stock air filter system will be had.

Why build and engine and leave a restricter plate on, OHHH Sorry Nascar

Doesn't the stock airbox have a small snorkel to collect air from the upper grill? I did not install my CAI and the stock airbox is long gone.

....and finally...looking at my mods (see sig below), which solution would you recommend?

Thanks in advance,

(and to 2SSRS...you seem to have become a Vararam apologist...and I don't think you need to be. When the units are released, they will stand on their own merit. You don't need to tear someone else down to build yourself up. This approach is why your seeing the spears come back in your direction. Just my .02 cents. )
This is for all of you that think that i dont know what i am say, This is a Dyno pull from a stock LS3 and it "D1BADZ" car not my car as you can see it goes down at WOT to 9.5 to 1 AFM on the pull this is why he and you will not get all the power out of your CAI, See pic and good luck to you all.

So you see that is low and the ECM can not fix it in time not the O2 sansers, There is only two ways to fix it, one is to get a tune and if that is ok with you good luck, The other way is to get a good CAI that dos not let this happen, And know you now why i wanted the AFM out of the tail pipe.

This is my pull on the dyno look at thr AFM it dos not go donw at the end.

Soooo, one question:

I notice that the Fastlane was the winner in gains, but your notes mention a tune. Does this mean that the Fastlane got a tune and the other CAI's didn't or does that just mean that you should get a tune to eliminate the ping if you get a Fastlane CAI???

.

It is Air Fuel Ratio not AFM.

Your car only made 365 360 torque with the Vararam and all you have been doing is bashing everything we did ????????????

Again! you have nothing useful to add.

Are the Fastlane results with or with out a tune?

I'm asking because of the lean knocking and if the instructions recommend a tune, the kit should come with a basic tune included.

Thank you and the team for taking your valuable time to do this test. It is people like you who help us make educated decisions.

Maybe a header and exhaust test next

Fastlane will be making changes to they're kit based on our findings

In it's current form the fuel trims are far enough off that I recommend a tune to correct the maf calibration.

With the maf reporting less air than actual, the timing was further advanced than others, which explains the higher power, Leaner A/F and the pinging.

Tuning WILL Correct this, and as I understand it they offer a tune with they're kit.

All tests were done on a completely stock car to keep the playing field level.

All the Kits are good some can use some redesigning and others are fine they way they are, what the manufacturers do with the information will set them apart from the crowd.

This is not the place for this.... this is for the testing results of a group of CAI's. Maybe start your own "technical" thread on the subject??? Just a suggestion!

Thanks a lot Ted for doing this.

I was stuck between Rotofab, New Era, and CAI and after this I'll be going with New Era.

I have a general question for anybody and everybody. While reading though this thread I see quite a few people going with CAI because of the high peak HP gain and my question is why? Why are you just going off of peak HP? Very little of our driving is at peak HP so would it not be better to go by average HP gain?

I know i have noting to add to your post, All i want was the AFR like i asked 3 times on Sunday and got removed from the texting, As for my torque numbers that is on 91 octane gas that is all that we get out in AZ and CA and NV so the car dos not have all it can, But that is better then what it was.
