Anyone else planning on exhaust system changes?

Check out Performance Peddler. Should save you some money if that's the route you decide to go. I prefer magnaflow.

Definitely......

When they wear out. GM put a lot of time and effort into getting these cars to sound just right. I defer to their wisdom.

I have magnaflow too and love it, you can usually get a used one on ebay or cragislist. I wanted a valid warranty so I got it here. Magnaflow 23862. Also some of the forum sponsors selling magnaflow usually have a sale going on. Either way its a great cat, sounds great, and very easy to install.

I had the exhaust changed on my 2LT RS manual and the change in sound was night and day. The stock was very quite and tinny. I went with the Solo Performance exhaust and was suprised how deep a sound they were able to get from the V6.

For those considering other options be careful when listening to sound clips or other cars. Make sure if you have a manual you hear the exhaust on manual vs. an automatic. Believe it or not even though they are both V6's the exhaust sound is very different.

NECROTHREAD IS UNDEAD!

Back on topic - did you ever end up putting the hushpowers on? If so... how did it sound?
- X

P.S. - Hushpower mufflers are not chambered - they are perforated core.

If your response was directed at my post then I don't see how talking about changing my exhaust is off topic. The original post was about changing the exhaust, not a specific muffler type.

Just trying to offer some insight from my own experience.

No kidding on the thread being back from the dead...

I did not end up with the Hushpowers. I had a few conversations with the R&D guys at Flowmaster and they basically came to the conclusion that it wasn't the right solution for the V6 sound. They said it would work "alright" if I went with the 3" Hushpower Pro axle back setup they sell for the SS but in the upper RPMs it would get harsh and tinny sounding so they didn't recommend it.

I finally gave up on Flowmaster altogether because I got tired of waiting for them to release something for the V6. Heck they even had a full-page ad in Hot Rod with a part # for the V6 kit but they don't have it on their website (still).

I ended up ordering the Mach XL cat-back from SOLO Performance. It's the same one that Grim Reaper has installed. Mine is on a UPS truck right now and is supposed to be delivered tomorrow.

I want to hear this when you get it installed. If you or I aren't at the next club meeting, I want to meet you some where so I can listen to the Solo Exhaust in person. I'm still on the fence between the Solo and the MRT ver.2.0 and the $400.00 or so difference.

Congrats on getting the Mach XL cat back.

Look forward to seeing your comments once you get it installed.

No - I was telling myself to get back on topic. After my necrothread outburst.

Also looking forward to video of the solo performance setup. Just not sold on it yet - still leaning toward the MRT route.

No problem.

It is tough decide on which system is right for you...especially through video clips. I have seen/heard the video clips of the MRT system and it does sound good as well.

I fortunately had the luxury of being able to be there in person when they tried various set ups. That and the comfort level of dealing with Jeff and the others at Solo convinced me.

Hopefully ROLNSLO will get his sytem in and provide some feedback and video.

I called Flowmaster and they do have the Axle back system done it is part number 817483 he said it is not on the web sight yet but he did send me a PDF of the kit. I checked on Summits web sight they have it $454.99 409 stainless steel. The rep. did say it does take they longer to develop systems for the cars because the dont just throw any muffler in a box and call it a system like some other manufactures due.
