Yes I put that tap on it, but it doesn't do anything. And the wire is brown, not gray. I've since removed it after checking the ground and everything else was good.

Actually, it was all for nothing! Turns out the quick splice I used wasn't sufficient to connect to the "brown" wire. I went and bought some T-taps and tapped into the same wire and they came right on!

No idea why my wire is brown instead of gray

Did mine by tapping into the dome lighting as said in OP. At first it wasn't working but it was cause I used a t-tap made for 16-18gauge(blue) and it was too big, I then used a red one 18-22 gauge (I think?) and they came on immediately. So stoked! Hardest part was reaching in to tap into the gray wire.

Edit: not sure why the pics came out sideways, uploaded from iPhone. Sorry :/

I need Help
I have a 1SS. I want to install Footlights in my Gen 5. I want, if i open the door that the Footlights goes on and if the main lights are on then I want that the footlights goes on too.

I NEED HELP. Sorry for my bad English. I come from Germany.

My question is will wiring the lights like this allow me to turn them on and off with the dome switch or do I need to come off the dome switch wiring? Thanks in advance.
