GM gets blamed for alot of things beyond their control. The Camaro is that quiet because of the Government, not GM.

So why change your exhaust, how are guys claiming power differences by replacing them,,both good and bad...Please explain!

Just an observation -

They absolutely increase backpressure. They minimize it, but cannot eliminate it.

The L99 with AFM active sounds - hmm - not so good, running on 4 cylinders.

They HAVE to keep it quiet, and rather than give the LS3 better exhaust, they both get the quiet version.

I almost want to call on this, that you just welded that pipe in there but I cannot tell for sure by this picture. That seems to be a new tip on there too? Or I'm just going crazy.

Looks like the exhaust leaks into the chamber through the small series of holes and muffles the sound before being pressured out the tailpipe.

I'm not exactly sure why there so quit but I just wander if it's cause it's just running on 4 cylenders until you get on it. Cause when I get on mine she sure has a nice little roar to her. But that's just a thought. I do wish she soundedmore like the chally or stange. But still love the way my baby looks better than the other 2.

Has anyone tried to replace the muffles with a straight pipe on the V6? I know a member did it to his SS and was happy with the results. I wonder what the V6 will sound like?

If anyone with a V6 is swapping their mufflers soon, it'll be cool to crank it up without any mufflers and record the sound just for kicks. who knows, we may like it!

Well then why when I yanked them off and put on SLP LoudMouths (basically a muffler delete with tips) did it get so loud and badass then?

Andy, this is a valuable picture and observation. I'm glad someone opened it and shared with others. Thanks!

Looks like you can just cut the box around the exhaust pipe out. This would remove some weight, you would lose the gas tank look. I love the sound of the stock system.

Your going crazy!

No motive here ,Just making all aware.

As most of you know I have done offroad downpipes, headers, magnaflow, soon slp exhaust work on both automatics and standards. The most difference I and my customers saw was when we removed the 4 Catalytic converters these cars got the loudest.I even ran them with open headers versus open offroad downpipes and both were equally as loud.

I still think I'll like the sound with your magnaflow muffler system vs the stockers .. but we will see. Thanks for all the work you have done and the information you have provided.

For the sound, a car with +400hp should not sound like this. I don't even want to start my car next to a Challenger or Mustang! At least not until my Corsa gets here tomorrow!

Doesn't have to be the loudest on the block, just the fastest.

You guys that are ashamed to have a quiet grocery getter that can beat the competition should own a civic. Get the folgers can out and have a field day.

I'd much rather have a quieter car for when I'm driving home at night past police cars than have my exhaust rattle their windows and get a ticket for it. That's why I'm sticking with diverters.

Tone is one thing, but in regards to mod007, measuring your pride by how loud your car is compared to stangs and challys as opposed to how fast or good looking it is, is kinda stupid/ricer-ish.
