Thanks... It's pretty stealthy in either location (upper or lower grille)... In the lower grille area, they are far more stealthy but performance suffers...
I am going to keep them in the upper grille area of mine because I do not have a front tag... I will post a photo of the front of the car from a few feet away so you can see how stealth they are in the upper grille area... |

You are welcome... There is a debate going on in another thread as to placement of the antenna receiver...
It is my opinion that the antenna / receiver should have a clear unobstructed view of the roadway and it's the opinion of another poster that the antenna / receiver can be hidden behind plastic without degrading the performance of the antenna... Aside from a laser hit, Ka band is the most dangerous radar there is... Ka band detection suffers greatly if the antenna is located where it does not have a clear view of the roadway, and suffers even more if it's placed behind any plastic that is either thick or angled / curved (ie... the Camaro front bumper is both)... The problem is that many installers, while they may be installing studs and make it all look very pretty and professional, they are generally not very knowledgable (trust me, not a slam on installers) when it come to radar bands, effects, and placement of radar related equipment... My suggestion to anyone wanting a remote installed system is to do research and then tell the installer where you want the equipment placed... I have a friend who had the 9500ci professionally installed and guess what? The receiver / antenna was installed upside down and the front shifters were not level... Research the radar bands used in your area and what you need protection from... Then find the best placement of this equipment for the car you are having it installed in... The receiver / antenna and shifters will always have the best performance and range when they have a clear and unobstructed view of the roadway... The shifters MUST also be level and straight... Here's how I did mine.
Good thing I have a few of these trim pieces. I need to re-cut this hole. I lined it up based on the bottom edge, and not the top. So, it's not 100% level.

I added some shifters to my Qi45 and I tweaked the mounting of the detector itself. The shifters seemed like a perfect fit for the Camaro. I just had to use some extruded u-nuts to mount them. I put one facing forwards and one backwards to offset the shifter from the grill and get it to face forward.
Yes, my car needs a clay bar and good coat of wax. ![]() How I mounted them: |

i have the escort 9500ci in mine. had one in my 350z before that. it works great.
should be noted that the laser (my case front and rear) "shifters" are the detectors as well, it is only illegal to have the "shifting" function turned on, not the detecting. the control panel supports turning the shifter off for 60 seconds (double tap mute button), which in most cases gives you time to reduce speed and then turn them off , letting the signal get back to the gun. in my case the control panel is separate from the display and I had them install it totally stealth inside the car (no display, LED up on the steering column after the down slope by the info screen, control to the right of the steering wheel column). the speaker is up under the dash. The x/k/ka band unit is up in the nose of the car, like yours my laser units are mounted to the grill spaced between the license and the headlights Todd
