I usually shift in the 3,000 to 4,000 range. Maybe that is why my MPG is only 12.

I love to cruise at about 2800 rpm, love the note. Didnt get this for fuel economy.

into 6th: 45

This will keep the engine at 1000 rpm and anything below that I feel lugs the engine too much. Shifting at these points has gotten me 25 mpg.
This is prety much the way I do it. But, a little higher speeds after second. Shifting out of 1st around 10-12 mph beats out the skip shift most of the time. It's really funny when I do beat the skip The 1to4 lights up on the DIC and I'm in 2nd already. My numbers lok like this. My mileage averages 22-23 at most.

into 2nd: 10-12
into 3rd: 20-25
into 4th: 30-35
into 5th: 40-45
into 6th: 50+

I have had 5th as low as 32 mph without lugging it. However I normally shift out at 5k when I'm getting on it. Haven't felt the need to redline it.

wish i could chime in...... but i don't have my car yet. this will be my first manual car (i know how to drive stick though).

On my Harley I don't even have a tach, i just listen for the engine and how the bike is pulling. car should be the same thing. listen to it and feel it.

I usually shift between 2500-3000. Unless, like others have said, I'm getting on it.

Most of the time through town My shift pattern is like this:

1st to 3rd to 5th. Doesn't lug at all when I am doing that. Get pretty good MPG In town when I am shifting like that.

I'm at 2500 to 3000 during normal driving...but I haven't done normal driving in a while...I'm on mine pretty hard.. I have had it in 2nd, running 60-65mph at 5500 to 6000, before shifting into 3rd, but I like kicking it up 4 to 5000 on every shift except 4th to 5th and 6th

It depends if you what to drive normal or drive it like it was made to drive

I've tested it 1st 6500 to 6800 48 MPH 2nd same R's 72 MPH and 3rd 103 but that's all I've done....This car is bad ass

This is how I drive most of the time with my ls3. It's gotten me 14.7mpg average:(. Not too bad, but it's a lot of fun!

I used to shift around 2200-2500 and then started holding the gear longer till 3K or so. Shifting at 3000 actually made my gas mileage go up. I went from 15 to 17 combined.

Alot of good info here! It seems like the general consensus is 3k for normal driving. . What does "cruising" at a certain RPM mean? I'm still in the process of learning all I can about driving a manual. Also, I feel that if I don't shift at a higher RPM from 1st to 2nd my car jerks...maybe it's because I still shift too slow? What do you guys think?
