Cool looking knob for sure. Enjoy.
Nice to see what others have done in regards to
threading the shifter.

Whitey, is there a reason you went with this particular size shift knob? I see on Hursts' webite they offer the 2.25" and the 1.75" diameter knobs. Does the knob feel a little too big, or would it be more comfortable if it were the 1.75" diameter?

I never saw the smaller knob offered. I do have one that size I had on
another vehicle. The larger one seems fine for me. I don't hold onto it much, just when I shift. I understand it is not a good thing to rest your
hand on the shifter while you drive, although its comfortable.

It would be nice if Hurst just came out with a ball that fit the 5th generation camaro, petty sure they would sell, some jump on the band wagon, come on HURST

This thread (no pun intended) is legit. Just did the mod. I used the black anodized sickspeed trim piece with the ball recommended in the original post. The hardest part was finding a place that sold the proper sized die. Ended up getting a 9/16-18 with a handle from ACE hardware. Here's the finished product:

FYI: If you are getting the factory Hurst short throw upgrade beware. I went to the Hurst site and tracked down the manual for the aftermarket short throw to buy the white ball that would fit. It wasn't until I got my car that I realized that they reused the stock stick with a different short throw mechanism. Don't waste your money like I did on the wrong ball. It won't work in this mod either. Had to go with the 9/16-18 ball. But it worked out in the end. It looks great, plus this ball actually has the logo on the side where the smaller one did not.

I have searched this subject, there is no way to replace the stock Hurst short throw shifter knob without threading the exisitng shifter post?

Very nice write up! I will be doing this in my ZL1 once it shows up. I have a red Hurst ball that I had in my 4th gen SS that I want to install in my 5th gen.

There is -go to Speeddawg.com--they have an adapter for the 5th gen--I have the factory Hurst and it works with it too. It does sit up a little bit higher, but it shifts so much better.
