I like the stripes, but not the tail panel so much. I plan on doing the same with my Rally Yellow, but with the wider "Bumblebee" stripes

That is a very good price! I was going to wait until I could take my car to the shop to see what they would quote.

I'm getting the real deal BumbleBee stripes but in a metallic black.

He originally thought $1200 but after looking at the car and realizing it would take longer to dis-assemble it without manuals, etc., the price is now $1600.

The vinyl guy wanted $1200!!!

Anyway, well worth the money for a great custom paint job.

I'll post photos of "Bumblebee" next weekend.

As for the stripes, both the front and the rear set just look too narrow. The Camaro is a WIDE car and the stripes kind of need to be proportional to the car's size.

I agree. I think the stripes look nice but I like the much wider bumblebee stripes too which is how I am going to have mine painted.

I talked to a local body shop that I've used before and they do great work. I gave them some pictures of bumblebee and told them what I wanted. They said it would be no problem and gave me a quote of only $800.

After viewing this thread and reading what some had said about stripe width, and going all the way down the front I decided to try some "what ifs" using Adobe Illustrator. What I discovered is although the car looks like it should have stripes, and it seems like it would be easy to stripe it, once you start you find there are a LOT of subtle lines in this car that get easily messed up when you start modifying them. You can't just throw a band of stripe on it and expect it to look good.

I spent quite a bit of time playing around with all kinds of things. I fully believe Tom Henry when he said he spent a couple days messing with the stripe width and placement; it's that critical.

It actually came down to only ONE style of all the ones I played with that actually looked good. The Silver SS I did in both black and white with a full down-the-front scheme. I spent a LOT of time messing with this before I got a look that I felt was balanced to the car and didn't look cheesy. The best look was putting the stripes only on the front face of the body panels, which allowed the built-in sculpted edges to remain untouched. I tried it the other way but it just looked wrong.

The rear shot of an IBM Camaro shows the stripes going just over the spoiler and trunk lid, and then all the way down to the bumper. I tried putting them down the bumper too but it looked horrible; WAY too overdone. It's a toss-up which one looks best; I think they both look good although the one going down to the bumper has a bit meaner look to it. The rectangle rear panel with the Chevy bow on it would look good blacked out with either one. I might try this on a rear shot of a lighter color car if I can find a good, straight photo of one.

What do you guys think?

That's so wierd how I thought I wanted them to go past the mail slot and now I think I prefer the factory length. Great job either way though. We don't want all our cars looking the same

The stripes look great and so does the rear blackout panel. I just can't decide if I like the short stripes from GM or these longer ones better...either way they all look great.

Again, just my opinion...
I like that the stripes follow the contours of the hood. That being said, they do look a bit narrow to my eye as well. I'd like to see the Tom Henry car with the stripes just a bit wider, reducing the red area between the black stripes by 1"-2". But overall, I think the stripes look great. Much better than vinyl or plastic stripes.

Now what I would really like to see is a white SS with Victory Red stripes. And add in a custom red leather interior. That would match the '92 Heritage Edition Z28 I used to own. I really wish I'd kept that car.
