i had to explain to some old codger why they weren't making a z/28 right now and why he wasn't going to order one yet. he was still adamant on getting one because he bought a 69 z/28 when he got back from Nam, so he wanted a 2010 z/28

We wanted to make the Z28 and had it all done just like the car mags said. It's amazing but probably WAY too fast if you get real. It looked great but I guess we don't have the money to make it, and we can't afford to be pushing gas-guzzlers these days. So sad. As someone above said we can definitely be happy with what we did get though. Enjoy!

Any News on Z28 possibilities?
I searched around but didn't find anything recent on it, just some stuff from 2-3 months ago.
Has there been any talk or any new news come out stating if they will build the Z28 or not & possibly when if they are?

Indefinitely suspended currently, I'll try to look for a source.
I'd bet it will become a reality in 2-4 years. Perfect timing for a graduation present to buy myself!

Jay Leno said yes on his review. That means at least one will be made.

John Fitzpatrick was asked this week what has to happen to make the Z28 a reality. His response was "Buy lots of Camaros, Chevrolets, Buicks, GMCs, Cadillacs, etc. The Z28 is an important part of the Camaro branding and heritage and if it's done it must be done right."

I think it will be a few years before we see that car come out. We'll be lucky if the current Camaro production is not affected by the upcoming bankruptcy. The decision is totally out of the Camaro Teams hands and gievn the current climate, focus will be spent on making the government and Pelosi happy.

The Z wasnt original correct? I always thought the SS was top notch so I dont know why they would come out with a Z

DZ 302 4spd
|
The Z28 started as an High Performance package, the RPO # was Z28. You could only order the package if you added disc brakes and 4spd transmission. This was offered starting in 67 so the Camaro could compete in SCCA. The engine limit was 305 cubic inch so Chevy came up with the 302. The SS was the top of the line trim package, but the Z28 was more of a Race car. The first year and a half Z cars didnt have badges, but the name stuck and somewhere mid 68 they started putting the Z badges on the front fender. In 69 they added badges to front and rear of the car too. My Z has Rally Sport Equipment and bears the Rally Sport Badges on the fenders behind the wheel, Z28 badges on front of fender, because the car is really a Rally Sport with the High Performance package. If Rally Sport was added to an SS, the SS was the higher Package and replaced all RS badges with SS ones. If they come out with a new Z28 they need to stick to what it was back in the first Gen, a bare bones race car that could be driven on the street. Gm has all the stuff to make a killer Z Car, they have the LS7 from the Z06. Add that, take away some of the toys that isnt needed and please lighten this beast up to take advantage of all that horsepower.
