I agree with your power estimates. 500hp will probably be a safe amount for the rear but you have to keep in mind that by todays standards 500 wont be enough for much of this croud. If you think about it, there are only a handfull of diffs that can handle 500+hp on slicks. But now days that kind of power just isn't as hard to come by.
Oh and we could probably trade out for an iron case and gain some serious strength. |

If you just wanted 500hp at the crank what would you need and roughly what would it cost? And would this void your warranty?

+1 but to make it truly street legal, the full exhaust would need to be carb legal, and not move the factory catylitic converters.
The heads/cam/intake tune would probably get you well into the 500rwhp mark, add that 100 shot and you're there. For Design, A good aggressive cam swap, with a tune could easily get you to 500bhp. Voiding the warranty is always a sticky issue. Technically a warranty can't be voided if the aftermarket part had nothing to do with the fault (i.e. they can't blame a bad tranny on a new set of mufflers or headers), but the burden of fighting that is on you if a dealer wants to make such a claim. |

I was answering two different questions... The heads and cam advice was about keeping it street legal not about warranty.
Long tube headers won't keep it street legal, because it will fail exhaust inspections. Well depending on the state anyway, but I am from Commiefornia so I have to worry about longtubes and catalytic coverters and what not. |

As I recall they are doing this on the CTS-V and the ZR1 as well.

Nothing you could do to get to 500 hp will keep any resemblance of a warranty unless it was buying a Z28 with 500hp or better stock.

Yep I did. I normally keep my cars stock as I buy a new one every 3-4 years.
