Can a tuner answer: final drive ratio on dyno results

Still lots of debate on how gear ratio effects hp numbers on dyno. How does the computer account for different gearing?

i just want my car to hit a 10.9x in the 1/4 and/or trap something close to 130

its fkn hard to get a 10 out of my pig :(

i just use the dyno to measure the difference before/after the modifications i made

Gear matters not. Ive made basicly the same numbers with 4.10s as I did with 3.45s

The answer is, that gearing only effects horsepower and torque to degree that the gears are more or less efficient at transferring power. Typically, lower gears (higher numerical) are slightly less efficient than gears that are numerically lower and will show a few HP less as a result on the Dyno.

I think the real question you are trying to ask is “do dynos require a tuner to input variables such as gear ratio that would allow them to skew or manipulate results?”

This will be fun. I’m gonna go get some popcorn.

Bo, did your tuner have to specifically input your gear ratio in order to avoid skewed results. The reason I ask is because 50% of people call bs on my hp numbers with 3.91 and the other 50% say it’s right. I really don’t know. I made 408 stock

Yes pepe I think that is the question I am meaning to ask!

Is it even possible that a stock LS3 in a Camaro could produce 408WHP?

There is video evidence on YouTube of bone stock 1LEs at 400+who and a bunch of personal accounts in this forum. Of course it’s possible.

And what about eddy current type Dynos? Such as dyno dynamics

Maybe the factory put z28 cams in 1le lol. Ringers to beat boss 302 back in 2013. Now suppose the dyno doesn’t care about the gear ratio, it still could just be a higher reading dyno. A mustang dyno could read 40 hp lower possibly

Unless you have been to another dyno and confirmed or have some sort of track time, then you are thinking about it too much. I made 460whp with a big cam ('14 1LE) and some people thought something was wrong. Went back same dyno same cam but with 13lbs boost made over 830whp. So which is right? Who knows.

When I was still running the Vortech V3 blower my car made 710/639 on a Dyno Dynamics. Took it down the street to the dynojet and it made 660/605.
