This is outstanding work guys. Including the avg and peak, fuel trims and timing, etc. is absolutely brilliant - great work and a big thank you.
While the results cannot be perfect this gives a good view of the units and information on which to base a decision - looks, quality, results, price, etc. all matter at different levels to different people and now they have the information they need to decide for themselves. |

Cool Air Fans???
One thing I did not see in the test set-up:
Did you provide fans blowing cool air thru the radiator at the rate you would get going down the road at each RPM in 4th gear (I assume you used 4th gear)? If not, then the test doesn't give a very true picture of real world road performance. |

Can we get the hp ratings at the different RPM's? Maybe a single graph that shows each HP and TQ line, compared to stock? While the end result numbers are good to know, there's a lot of range in between that i'd like to see. A smooth HP/TQ increase would be much better for daily and spirited driving as opposed to a better peak number. Also a higher peak HP number doesn't translate into a better system.

Now these cars have two sets of fuel trims, short term and long term. The long term fuel trims are created based on how far off the short terms ones are. At part throttle the computer adds these fuel trims but at WOT only the long term fuel trims effect the fueling. The short term fuel trims are created instantly and the computer needs no time to learn them, the long term fuel trims will require the computer to learn but I don't know how long this takes since I turned mine off and are only using the shorts. hope this helps clear up all the fuel trim questions

ive had a couple gmpp intakes on my trucks.
they were a standard box, with a pretty lid and tube, with the ability to use the stock air filter change meter, and drew air from the fenderwell, and had a dry Higher-FLOW paper FILTER. was good for all seasons, and performance as well. really want to see a camaro one in person before i decide. |

See now if I would of waited I probably would of went with the New Era due to the fact that Id get the car tuned anyways. But seeing as I already have a roto-fab, I dont think I will miss those few hp now. Im still curious to see what vararam has. And I think that 2ss and this patrick guy are one and the same...kind of like some Dr Jeckyl and Mr Hyde thing. He has to wait for the moon to come out before he can post as "patrick".
I kid, I kid. |

Great info in here, especially about the Fuel Trims... I had never bothered to really learn about fuel trims... Just checked, my Dashhawk in facts supports the fuel trim PIDS on my LLT. Also notice it works with my Fuel Pressure which at idle is around 500 PSI!!! LOL!
One thing I've noticed with my LLT... not sure if it applies to the V8s but thought I would pass it along.... When I park my LLT after it's up to temp and let it set for 15 or 20 mintues the stock MAF/IAT sensor really seems to suffer from heat soak! Worst part is the stock IAT sensor seems to take quite a long time to recover... Needless to say by the time I get through the staging lanes and get staged my IATs are pretty high! And the LLT starts pulling timing at like 88 degrees! LOL

I still don't understand how fuel trim affects gas mileage after reading all of the posts trying to explain. Can someone just say if a negative fuel trim % gives better or worse gas mileage?

Ted,
Thanks for doing this. I was between ADM and Rotofab, think I am going with ADM. Thanks again. |
