I did the springs when I did the cam. Triple springs with titanium caps, I did trunioun kit on rockers, new push rods, LSA oil pump, upgraded the timing gears, it’s a Texas speed cam 231/236 with a 112 L.S.A separation. Full dyno tune, NGK plugs. I want to say maybe 20k miles ago when I did the upgrades. From what I can tell all my gauges read perfect. Even through my scanner. I pulled both valve covers off and from what I can tell the springs and rockers look fine. Granted I can’t see the lifters. I know I shouldn’t be driving it but it’s my only source of transportation. I kinda wish it was something in the engine because then it’ll be under warranty from where I bought the car. I know that sounds dumb but right now I can’t really afford anything expensive to go wrong.

Thay'll warranty it after tha cam install? High lift springs have a service life and I bet your at it. Not saying that was the cause. Actually would be the last thing I would suspect was floating the intake to have the lifter turn in the tray. Not even sure if that can happen.
Hear ya on the transportation. well if you continue driving it, it will probably get louder and more obvious. hopefully it's something simple and not destructive. |

I did get a bad rain storm Saturday night and as I was driving my car hit an oil spot or something and it revved out and traction control kicked in. But I didn’t notice an issue the next day until later on after I got off the highway. Earlier that morning I drove it to grab breakfast and didn’t hear the noise. Wasn’t until later that afternoon it started. So not sure that’s related.

If a bearing spun it can make a squeak too but usually you'll see an oil pressure drop. You could dance the oil or pop the filter off and cut it open to see if you're getting metal in the oil. You won't likely get a warranty covered if they see there's a custom tune or aftermarket cam, unless you get lucky and they don't check.

Haven’t had any luck yet. Took the valve covers off again, rechecked everything, took the intake off as well just to check. Haven’t been able to find it yet. I’m still thinking it’s either the pilot bearing or a lifter gone bad. My friend runs the service dept at Chevy up in NC I’m down in Fl but she’s gonna y’all to a couple of the techs tomorrow to see what they might think. I know she said there wasn’t any yen’s aside from belts/pulleys making a chirp noise. I’m getting really stressed from this lol.

Well took my car over to a Chevy dealership. I got some pretty shitty news. Kinda what I expected. The master mechanic believes it’s the cam or lifter. Either way he said they both should be replaced. Now to see if my other friends shop will do the “work” for me. Lol

Camaro engine maintenance
I feel you, man! I had something happen to my Camaro and I took it to Fikes Chevy in Hamilton, AL. I was stress-testing the car on a track at Virginia International Raceway, and another track in Georgia, and just bearing down on it too hard, so they had to tune the engine up. I also chewed up my tires.
I first fell in love with the aesthetics of the 2019 Camaro, and decided to buy it! Yeah, I know it's a gas guzzler, but the power in that car is killer! The engine is a beast. I can't afford a 'Vette but the Camaro was in my price range. https://www.slashgear.com/2019-camar...know-09526707/ |
