stock gear and stall converter
Hello all. Has anyone ran a yank stall converter with their factory 3.27 gears? If so, can you elaborate on it for me.

Brand of stall is meaningless, it is the stall speed and diameter that matter. I run a circle d 11 inch 3200 stall for 3 years before doing 3.73 gears and total motor build. Perfectly fine as a daily driver but the 3.73s made it even more drivable imo. Goes into lock up quicker when just driving around town due to increased rpms.
Don't know what size stall you are wanting to run but a 3200 is considered mild by most on the forum and while I do consider it daily drivable it IS noticeable and you can tell it isn't stock. Once you go over 2800 imo you can tell in the 6l80 that it isn't stock but a stall is the single biggest performance item you can do imo with a tune on these cars. My car picked up over 4 tenths on a stall alone. Bigger stall speeds like 3600+ will make your car even faster but depends on what you want. Hope that helps. |

Agreed with the above. I ran a Precision Industries 3200 in my Camaro with stock gears when I did my build, then I went to a Circle D 3C 4500 stall, and still running the stock gears. What a difference it made in launches!! Driveability is almost as calm as the stock, and 3200 I did have, it's all in how your tuner sets it up. For a mostly stock car, 3200 is a great stall to run. And remember, if you do run a bigger stall than stock, you will need a trans cooler to keep the fluid cool.
