Pedders Coilovers

Looking to upgrade my 1LE suspension a little more. Looking at the Pedders extreme XA or extreme XA remote canister. Also i was eyeballing AFE featherlights but cant find them on AFE anymore.

Leaning towards the remote canister just because but really interested in hearing why they would be better or worse.

If we have any suspension gurus please educate me.

The purpose of an external canister is to increase the volume of fluid available, like a large capacity oil pan for an engine. You see them on off road rigs because the shocks have to oscillate a lot and the fluid gets hot, reducing the effectiveness of the shock. I don't really see the need for them on a Camaro. Maybe someone who uses them at the track will chime in. I run Z28 shocks at Sebring with no issues and that is the bumpiest track I have ever been on.

2011 Vert - 416/w 230/236 .612/.602 115lsa, 1LE suspension w/32mm rear bar. Z28 diff. Gen6 ZL1 brakes.

Thats basically what i read. Also the remote canister shock is a larger diameter 52mm vs 48 i think which does the same thing as the canister, reducing heat. I found old threads here about the XA extremes vs the XA supercars...... I guess the supercars are the new remote canister? But everyone said the upgrade between the two were well worth it from what I read. I just dont know 1LE suspension vs coil overs. Thats my biggest question right now i suppose. How much worse or better would it be and would it also help putting power down.

Justice Pete talked me out of the DSSV dampers back in the day believe it or not. Basically told me that if I didnt have Z/28 size rims and tires and sway bars that it wasnt worth the upgrade due to the DSSV dampers being specificly dialed for that vehicles setup.

My only experience with coil overs is on my off-road rig. I agree with Pete that buying new DSSVs would not be worth it, but I got them off a wrecked Z28 for less than a set of Bilsteins and I did put a Z28 bar up front (same as a ZL1) with a 1LE bar in the rear because I run 325s. Keeps it from being ass happy but does have a bit of understeer.
