Camaro To Be Revived! (4/8/26)

The date in the thread title is today, not the production date. This seems to check out as legitimate news.

https://local12.com/news/nation-worl...-date?-fbpost=

"General Motors has reportedly approved a successor to the Chevrolet Camaro, signaling a revival of the iconic nameplate following its discontinuation in January 2024. Multiple reports indicate that a next-generation Camaro is expected to return to production as early as fall 2027, with the new model potentially being built at the Lansing Grand River Assembly plant in Michigan."

Wow! Great news! There was a lot of speculation on what body GM will run in NASCAR after the 2027 season. Happy that it will a Chevrolet. Even happier that it will be a Camaro (Hopefully a 2-Door not a sedan).

If GM is really serious about taking on the GT500's and Dodge Demons of the auto-world*, this could get interesting on the REAL hi-perf scale. While I realize there might even be an E-version of the car, you can't say you're taking on those two nemesis vehicles without bringing something awesome to the party.

* I might be woefully behind on what Ford and Dodge are fielding nowadays. So feel free to enlighten me!

Remember we're talking gm (not GM) here. No more Al Oppenheiser or Ed Welburn. Be prepared to be disappointed. Very disappointed.

Yeah, thinking the new so-called Blazer vs. my '74 K5/Blazer. But we can hope.

Perhaps a mid-engine version? The platform already exists.

But don't go full retro again.

I'm sure whatever they roll out it will be WAY too techy for me. A bit much in the Gen6 Camaros, too much in the C7 Vettes and way over the top in the C8 Vettes. I guess I could get used to it if I had to but hopefully I'll never need to buy a new car again.
